I promised. The call ended with the faint click of finality. Almost at once, James appeared at my side. His expression was composed, but his eyes—sharp, calculating—betrayed what he’d seen. “Sir…” he began carefully, adjusting his cuff as though disguising his unease. “Did I see—?” I cut him off. “You saw him too.” James’s lips pressed into a thin line, a rare crack in his unshakable armor. “Yes. I did.” He hesitated, lowering his voice. “And I have no explanation.”

David said. James appeared taken aback and perplexed, his expression suddenly changed to a mixture of surprise and confusion. He seemed to be struggling to make sense of David's proposition. "Who do you think it is? This person? The snitch?" James asked, his tone serious, as he tried to clarify David's point. There was a deliberate pause in James' statement that seemed to suggest he was skeptical about David's claim. However, David pretended not to notice the hesitation and maintained his composure.

James' voice sounded beside me and at the same time his hand pulled me along. I resisted his pull at first but then, an unexpected person showed up from the inside of the upfront tunnel. It was Mr. Pompous. The moment his eyes made contact with mine from the distance, he halted sharply. "Fvck!" James cursed and opened fire at him with the pistol. Mr. Pompous was fast enough to roll away. "C'mon..." James pulled me and this time, I went with him. My mental state was in utter mess and that's the only action I flowed with.
