My next book will be inspired by actual experiences.”

“I think you were erased from visibility inside the system.” “That sounds dramatic,” she said lightly. “It sounds accurate.” Jess exhaled through her nose. “You’ve been digging into me,” she said. “I dig into everything connected to Cain.” “Careful,” Jess said. “That habit gets people hurt in this world.” I leaned forward slightly. “Then tell me why you’re back.” Jess’s fingers tapped once against the table. “I didn’t come back on my own terms,” she said.
