The night sky was beautiful with the mixer of snowfall and shining stars. Joshua walked to a spot he felt was appropriate before he plopped down on the ground and started to wave his arms and legs against the ground. “How can suck a big man, make such small movements.” Jess joked. Joshua lifted his head and gave her a look before making his movements bigger. It only took a few seconds before Joshua stood up and made his way back onto the patio. He stopped in front of Jess and shook the snow that was stuck on his hair onto her. She yelped and pushed him as she laughed. They turned back to Joshua’s snow angle.

Nathan squatted down and sat next to Josh. Josh could feel his eyes prickle as he forced them to read and study. He wanted no distractions. “What?” He shouted. This time his voice was the definition of a king. Thomas on the other hand stared at them. He watched both of their mouths move and reply to one another. “You need help with that?” Nathan offered as he placed his arm on Josh’s shoulder. Josh began to feel his stomach twist. Clearly Nathan would not budge and Josh wanted to study alone. Josh's eyes crept up and he pushed Nathan’s arm away.

Theo asked as he poured a glass of wine which he passed over to Josh immediately he was seated. "Sorry I was cut up with something but am better now" Slowly Josh was going back to the old school Josh who was always shy about stuffs and little things embarrass him like right now he was feeling so embarrassed about the fact that Alice knows he likes her now he doesn't have the courage to look at her face eyeballs to eyeballs so instead as they tallied his eyes only went from Theo to his glass of wine.

Joshua let out a light laugh, making it clear that he expected a different kind of question, maybe about his business or something else, but he kindly answered my question. "Well, when I'm not working, I like to read." I smiled, feeling more at ease. "I like reading too. What's your favorite book?" "Hm, hard to choose just one. But I'd say '1984' by George Orwell is one of the ones that left the most impact on me." "No way! I love that book!" I was surprised by the connection that had arisen between us. Maybe I had judged Joshua unfairly. "Really? That's cool!" Joshua smiled, and I realized he had a very nice smile. "Who would've thought we'd have that in common, right?"

CHAPTER THREE On Monday morning, I tried my best to avoid Vivian but that girl seem to be a daredevil. “Joshua, what were you even saying over the phone”, she doesn't call me Joshua except she wanted to deliver a very significant message. I only stared at her as she drew nearer. “Joshua, I'm talking to you”, she was trying to make herself as audible and annoying as she can be. Her statements were already attracting the stares of my fellow classmates especially Christabel, my secret crush.

Linda's eyes immediately dropped to my crotch, but she was standing behind my parents and they missed it. "I think I'll go to my room and read for a while," I said, and they nodded. "It's nice to see you again, Linda," I added, giving her a smile. "You too, Josh," she replied. I made it to my bedroom door before my dad cleared his throat. "Hey, Josh, are you up for a quick workout before you start your reading?" I thought for a second and nodded. "Yes sir. That is a good idea. We're doing legs and abs tonight, right?"

This isn't going to end well. "Good morning, Ember." Josh greeted me with a smile. "Good morning, Josh. You seem chipper this morning." His hair was down to the side, not sported in his usual Mohawk. He smiled widely at me. He seems really happy with me since I told him the truth about the world he lives in. "Yeah, things just seem… different now." "Hey." Rachel stood in front of us all, swaying on her feet. "Josh, can I talk to you for a moment?"

"Let me see." I handed it over, watching as her expression darkened with each swipe of her finger. Josh had stopped eating, his eyes fixed on us. "Joshua," Grandma's voice could have frozen hell itself. "Come read this." The kids had gone quiet, picking up on the tension in the room. Leo and James exchanged worried glances while Sam pushed his food around his plate. Mia's grip on my hand tightened. Josh read quickly, his jaw clenching tighter with each passing second. When he looked up, there was a fury in his eyes I'd never seen before.

“Remind me to never stand too close to Ryan. I don’t want his bad luck rubbing off on me.” Josh laughed again, then stretched his arms. “I hope he’s okay, though. Maybe I’ll text him later.” I nodded. “That’s nice of you. It’s good to check in on your friends.” Josh smiled, then suddenly stood up. “Okay, Mom, I think I cheered you up enough. Now I’m going to my room to read my manga.” I pouted. “You’re leaving me already?” Josh smirked. “You can come read with me if you want.”

She was soundly asleep. “Good night.” I whispered and closed her door as gently as I could then went to my room. “Hey.” Kol had his reading glasses on. I didn’t think he could get any hotter. His hair fell over his eyes and he tried to push the strands back. “What are you doing?” I jumped into bed beside him. “Reading?” I rolled my eyes at him. “I can see that. What are you reading?” “Josh’s report. He sends me reports everyday on work and I read them to know where I should come in and what he should do.” Josh… I missed him. I wished he could join us but if Kol wasn’t there, there had to be someone else manning his position.
