The fight continues on and despite my pain, I keep tearing wolves apart one by one and after what feels like forever their numbers finally seem to be coming down plus I've not seen any wolves come out of the forest in a while so I pray there's no more hidden. As I'm finishing off a she-wolf that tried to jump on my mate's back I hear a gut-wrenching howl and my head automatic shoots up while both Alex and Theo do the same. I quickly look around and I see that Josh has changed back to his human form and he's running at high speed across the clearing. I quickly change back into human foam and head after him while Alex and Theo stay in their wolf foam and follow me.

And his voice was cheerful. "Yes. Hi, I was excited to meet you. So, I came early. By the way, who is he?" Joseph looked at the boy next to Theodore. "Oh. Say hi to my best friend, Joshua. He is the son of the president of our realm. Isn't he just like me? He looks like an angel but is a demon," Theodore looked excited. Joseph was a little disappointed to hear the word best friend from Theodore's mouth. "Oh my god, Theodore. Breathe," Joshua laughed. He looked at Joseph and extended his hand, "Hi, I'm Joshua. I have heard a lot about you from Theodore. You are cuter than what he described."

I couldn’t. Then I heard it. A soft sniffle. I turned my head sharply, my pulse racing. “Josh?” Another sniffle. My heart nearly stopped. I ran toward the sound, my feet crunching against the dried leaves and gravel. And then I saw him. Josh. He was huddled inside a small, broken-down playhouse. His little body was curled up, his arms wrapped around his knees. His face was buried in his arms, but I could hear his quiet sobs.

And my enemy was closing in for the kill. But then, something unexpected happened. Josh, despite his injuries, managed to grab the candlestick and threw it..

I met her gaze with a small smile, “No, it’s okay, really! I’m just glad to be here.” She returned my smile, and a figure next to us shifted. Josh. Unlike Ace and Jaxon who had both not bothered to acknowledge my existence, Josh waved. His brown wavy hair falling over his face. He looked no more than twelve. “Excuse my brothers, they are just not really good with strangers.” He shrugged, “I’m Josh by the way. Nice to meet you.” I did a little bow, “Sophie, thank you for the warm welcome, Josh.”

“And you’re not?” “Yes, Tyler is immortal, as long as God is by his side. Me? My life has a limit. I am still in the teen years of my life.” Josh said with a smile. “Teen years? You mean you’re between thirteen and nineteen?” Hugo asked. “Yeah, guess how old I am,” said Josh. “Nineteen,” said Hugo. Josh laughed. “Seventeen ...” “Seventeen?” Hugo asked in shock. “Am I older than you? I am nineteen. ”

The scene looked like a brutal hunting ground, the signs of struggle etched everywhere, but there was no sign of the shapeshifters. I sniffed the air, searching for signs of life. It was then that I heard a faint whisper, barely a whisper, but clear enough to make me turn toward the sound. “Alpha…” There, lying against a rock with a pale face and half-closed eyes, was Josh. His body was torn apart, with a deep wound in his stomach where part of his intestine protruded, a scene that could only mean one thing: they had tried to devour him. I knelt beside him, keeping my voice steady to calm him. “Calm down, Josh. You survived. I’m going to take you to a doctor.”
