Back to Jo’s POV “This means you are not working with him anymore, right?” I look up from the container I’m filling with leftover food and over at Jude, who’s standing in front of the TV holding the remote. “What?” He gestures to the screen with the remote. “Him.” My eyes rise to the screen, where footage of Brent Harvey from today’s game is playing. It was his first game back after his injury, and he performed quite well. “Um,” I mumble, switching my eyes back to the container. When I turn to stow it in the refrigerator, I say, “I might still be.”

I groan internally. My name is Mariah Cruz. I'm 17 years old and starting my junior year today. My Father, Mark Cruz, is the current Beta of our pack, The Royal Moon Pack, and my mother, Jennifer Diaz, is the Beta female. My Brother Josh Cruz is 18 years old and a senior in High School. He is training to become the next Beta when our Alpha, Jason Adams, decides to retire and hand the title to his eldest son, Nick Adams. Nick is 18 and is also a senior in high school. *** Jude POV The Past This day had been an absolute clusterfuck. Losing two men to those fucking bikers was bad enough. Losing them because we had a rat was worse. I wasn’t sure who he was, not with certainty. Many things pointed to Andrea. He hadn’t been at Christmas dinner two days ago, but he was supposed to watch Josephine today.

Jay glanced at Judy and said to her rather bluntly, “Judy, your dad’s critically ill. You should be keeping watch over him. I don’t need you here.” The tips of Judy’s ears turned crimson. It was a rare opportunity to be alone with the man she was obsessed with, so how could she be willing to miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity?
