Annalise's POV I'm falling. You know that dream where you're falling, and just as you’re about to hit the ground, you jerk awake? Yeah, it’s exactly like that—except this time, I actually am falling. Eyes wide, I twist to see the ground rushing up to meet me. Channeling my powers, I slow my descent into a controlled drop, landing with one knee down and my fist pressed to the ground.

"Besides, that was just an internal presentation, not the actual competition." A fire burned in my chest, and my blood boiled in my veins. I snapped, "What do you take me for?" My sharp tone startled him, and a flicker of unease crossed his face. "Come on. Yvette is just a girl fresh out of the irony tower. I'm doing this to help her grow." I turned around and left, unwilling to hear his excuses. He called after me, but I didn't turn back. ... The next morning, I avoided leaving at the same time as Elliot.

For one single second. Then— she falls. Right in front of me. Again. And this time— I don’t know— If she’s getting back up.

~Adeline My grip on the dresser tightens as the unwanted tears continue to rain down my cheeks. I release my grip from it and swipe at the tears, willing them to stop. I manage to rid my face of all traces of it for the moment but the hollow in my chest remains. I try to steady my breathing as I stare at my reflection. I can barely recognise the image of the girl staring back at me in the mirror. Her face is swollen from crying for so long, her eyes coated a bright red.

A teasing smile surfaced in Ken's face. The speed at which Roy jolted up from his imagination, rattled the kitchen door and some accessories beside the door—on the slab, fell down. Roy's heart downright leaped out from his chest.

I lost my balance. And I fell.

Alpha Nick looks over at Alpha Jax looking perplexed and trying to recall what rule 12 was. “what’s rule 12?” I look him straight in the eyes “rule 12 is you have to run 100 miles, and train with me the rest of the day, and if you can’t complete that then I can beat the shit out of you for requesting me to join you in your room.” “What if I complete it?” I start laughing and so does everyone else but him. I wipe my face from my tears and smile at him “Oh you think YOU can complete MY training?” Jax and I look at one another and I nod my head. Jax looks at Nick “I bet you, you can’t. Even I can’t and everyone here can’t. So do you want to bet?” Nick looks at me in my eyes.

“Have a good evening.” It’s all he says before pumping his wings and then rising into the sky so that he mixes with the bats and airplanes that hover high above, and it is only when he is out of sight that I move and lean against the banister so I can stare down at the city below. “Fuck,” I growl, brushing my hand along my face while my anger continues to ebb and flow. “What the fuck is wrong with you, Ciaran?” ‘Don’t you know.’

I wasn’t ready to talk about that particular day but knowing Cass she wasn't about to let it go. “It wasn’t an accident” I simply said, staring at my hands. “It wasn’t? I can never forget that day as long as I live. You were coming towards us in the cafeteria with your tray and then you slipped and fell. Everyone else started laughing until they realized you weren’t getting up. Oh god! When we rushed to where you were there was so much blood, I have never seen that much blood my entire life. We knelt beside you and Liam screamed for someone to get the nurse. He looked crazed when he pushed Trevor aside and knelt beside you.” Cass whispered before continuing, the horror of that day still etch
