I would slip inside, hide in one of the far aisles, and cry until I had no tears left. I smiled faintly at the memory as I greeted the librarian, who recognized me immediately and gave me a warm nod. The section on Moonwhisperers wasn’t hard to find; it occupied an entire wall of carefully preserved volumes with a small sign at the top of the shelf that read “Fragile.” I selected several books that looked promising and settled into one of the oversized leather armchairs tucked into a quiet corner near the back.

“This book.” She showed him the book, its old texture threatening to break apart. The librarian looked at the book with interest. “We do have old books in this library, but never one so old.” Odessa was getting desperate. She needed to know what was happening to her. “At least check around. You may see a newer version of this book,” she pleaded. The librarian shook his head. His eyes absolute. “I know every book in this library. As large as it looks,” he widened his arms for a more dramatic effect to his words, “but I've never seen any book this old.”

Playfully Arthur grabbed Rah’s neck and pressed it, laughing, but their laughs vanished the moment they saw a big stack of books approaching them in the hands of the librarian. The librarian placed them with a thump on the table and a cluster of dust was emitted from the pile of books. As Arthur and Rah coughed, the librarian disappeared and came back with a similar stack of books. “Is this all?” Rah asked sarcastically. “To start with,” the librarian nodded. “There is no one book with all dangerous clans. And history has many versions. You would have to shuffle through many books to get a comprehensive knowledge.” “Any specific clan you are looking for sire?” the librarian continued as he l

I turned carefully to the table of contents and ran my finger down the list. There were many chapters on various topics surrounding death. Eventually, I spotted one chapter labeled “Religious Reincarnation”. Seemed like a good start as any, and by that point, the library was about to close. I tucked the book under my arm and left. The librarian shot me a strange look as I checked out that book, but she didn’t stop me. “Make sure this is back by the end of the week,” she said, sliding the book back to me. “Any damage will come directly out of your student stipend.”

The title and some space to store some things in the game are good too…but…’ The system interrupted his thoughts “Kindly read the book “the things that are permissible to bring in the library” before you read anything else. This is the number one book that is most read by the past leaders and now you would be the one to carry their legacy….Con-gra-tu-lations.”

She slowly released her grip. “I’m sorry,” she said, “but I haven’t time. My matter is urgent.” “Your matter?” he said disdainfully. “Fantasy books?” Caitlin blushed. She didn’t know what to say to make him understand how truly pressing this was. “I need the books now,” she said. “NOW, do you understand me!?” Her words echoed too loudly in the silent hall, and people sitting quietly looked up from their books and glanced at them. The librarian, clearly embarrassed, scowled back at her. Without a word, he turned and walked away, his footsteps echoing down the hall, climbing the metal steps to the upper level, to the endless stacks.

He pushed off the shelf and walked toward me, he felt close enough that I could smell the faint scent of aged paper and something darker, like midnight rain. “Very well, little librarian.
