I didn't want them to end up like I had in my previous life and how Lila had ended up in this life. Instead, I wanted them to be like cacti that possessed tenacious vitality.

I am currently in my bed and I have not left this position since yesterday I got to my apartment. My heart is weak, and my head can't stop banging. My eyes feel sore, and I think Lulu is hungry. I can't help myself to go feed her. I am beyond miserable to do anything for myself right now. I look a mess. My room is messy. My hair, my body, everything is messy. My life is a mess. It feels like my entire world is crumbling. I thought of my late parents. That night they were killed and then...... My first time at that stupid mansion.

Sometimes, we make choices that we regret. Sometimes people need to do something because they would think that it was for the best for them. But that does not define us. It does not make us monsters.”

Her voice was all sugar. Before I could answer, Derrick cut in. "No need to thank her. It's her job." Molly teased. "Mr. Cromwell, she's your fiancée. Can't you talk to her a little nicer?" They sounded like the real couple. I let out a quiet laugh. Derrick—who used to freak out if I even glanced at his phone—now handed it to Molly like it was no big deal. And honestly? I felt weirdly calm. What used to feel like the end of the world suddenly felt... small.

I replied, my throat dry. She turned then, her gaze shimmering: beautiful and dangerous. "Then…let's not waste any time." Looking around, I saw that there's a lot of bookshelves around here, plus a bean bag area for the people who prefer to read their books here. How amazing is this place! So warm and cozy. My mom would be happy to be here. I proceeded to the Fiction Section, it is my favorite genre ever since.
