Whispers of Until.. Part 1 - Shadows of Summer
A low-wattage bulb hung from a twisted cord directly above the table, its tin shade casting a sharp, conical ring of yellow light onto the laminate surface, leaving the corners of the booth in deep shadow.
Lilith sat across from him, her hands clasped tightly around a heavy ceramic mug of black coffee. She hadn't taken off her coat either; she had merely unbuttoned the top two buttons, allowing the collar to part enough to expose the clean edge of the white gauze dressing at her temple. Her skin looked exceptionally pale under the yellow bulb, almost translucent, the faint blue veins at her wrists showing clearly through her skin where her sleeves had ridden up.
