I couldn’t blame her; I didn’t like it either. Selene grinned. “Got it. And your room?” “Grey,” I replied, rubbing my temple. “Different shades of grey.” She chuckled softly. “You and your obsession with grey.” “It’s peaceful,” I muttered, half-smiling. Her fur was silver-white, not quite the color of moonlight, more the color of starlight — a colder, steadier silver. Her eyes, in the reflection, were not the amber of most shifted wolves. They were pale grey, the color of dawn.

Zane said, “that’s why we should buy something you’d like.” I went still. You don’t get too picky, my father’s words echoed. A faint crease formed between my brows. “Which color would you have preferred?” Zane asked. “Grey,” I said, voice low. Zane turned to the woman. “Do you have it in grey?” The woman shook her head. “We can contact the company. They can produce the shade you requested.” “I’ll just take the blue.” A ragged sound left me—almost like a laugh.
