Its bones were translucent, crystalline, as if their very essence had been rewritten. "This is what's wrong," Lina whispered, her voice trembling. "The song stops here. It can't get through." She looked at me, her eyes wide with a new, chilling fear. "It's not a wall, Mama."

“That’s your fault.” He scoffed. “You set half the hallway on fire.” More growls. Dozens this time. Doors started opening on both sides. One by one, monsters slithered out. Witches cloaked in red mist. Wolf hybrids with stitched jaws. Blood mages with blindfolds and blades fused into their forearms. Soldiers. Experiments. Killers. Ashton grinned. “You still don’t want to split up?” “Not unless you want to die without me.”
