I felt scared and disoriented, wandering aimlessly in the darkness. Suddenly, I heard a voice—the same voice I’d heard on my first day at school. “Hello! Hello, who’s there?” I called out, but the voice didn’t respond. Instead, more voices joined in, chanting, “Prisca, the new moon will reveal the truth. Open your heart, open your soul, and the power within you will unveil your gift. Your gift will protect the unseen, the hidden.”

I screamed in the direction the last voice came at me. “I have what I want..it’s what you have...that I don’t want..but soon..it will be lost to you..it takes only the loss...and you’re broken..then..only at that ...precious moment..you can fully become mine.” The voices whispered and caressed my back before they flew in front of me. “Loss? What loss? Come out here and face me!” I screamed, waking myself up. Sunshine blinded me but I was afraid to close my eyes. The bedroom was quiet and I looked around, realizing it was really just a dream.

"Mommy, don't listen to him! He's the one who appeared out of nowhere and started stealing all my nutrients! Now, he even wants to make you misunderstand me!" Lucky's voice rang out, so aggrieved and pitiful that it made my heart ache. I quickly patted my belly to comfort him. "Don't worry, Lucky. I won't believe in some random, unexplained voice!" I looked around, trying to find the source of the other voice, only for it to appear again. "Mom, stop looking. I'm Sunny, I'm right inside your belly!

John whispered aloud, his voice scarcely audible in the profound stillness of the night, a question that had been gnawing at his thoughts ever since the voice had initially revealed itself. "I am a part of you," the voice replied, its words echoing through the labyrinth of his thoughts. "I can be your salvation, your escape from this nightmare, but you must grant me access and accept me completely. Let me in, John." The voice's plea held an undeniable earnestness, resonating with a subtle, irresistible pull, tugging at John's curiosity and fear in equal measure.

It is. I let out a quivering exhale. I’ve buried this part of me for so long that I wonder if I’ve still got the talent. I guess it’s time to find out. I mouth the lyrics of a song I love as calmly as I could, fitting my voice to the original tone of the actual artist. A lot of you should already know this song, it’s Lose Control by Teddy Swims.

She stepped inside the soundproof booth, closing the door behind her, the outside world fading away. As the lights dimmed inside the booth, a melodious voice emerged from Zoe’s lips, captivating and full of emotion. It filled the studio, intertwining with the lingering echoes of previous recordings. Zoe closed her eyes, letting the music guide her. Her voice soared, weaving through the notes, resonating with every fiber of her being. She danced around the room, her voice filling the empty space with warmth and longing.

"Enter the forest, come meet me, my Lina." I don't know what happened, but it seems like this voice has enchanted me and put me in a trance-like state. I try to move a part of my body, but I can't. I try to speak, but no sound comes out of my mouth, and panic takes hold of me. I'm not trapped in a locked room; I'm trapped within myself, and that scares me too. "Don't be like that, come meet me," the voice orders, and my legs gain a life of their own, moving towards the dark forest.

She could feel the dryness of her gullet, she sat on a haggard wooden seat. In front of her, is another self she doesn’t want to admit. The current Rina is trying to reject the other Rina who’s been trying to take over her consciousness. She knows that once the other-self has taken the light, there will be no going back. It’s her hidden side, the voice that she’s been trying to suppress to come out. “This is because you’re weak Rina” her other self spoke arrogantly. “You know how you need me, sooner or later”.

And if you want time, you can take that too. Let yourself stay in a shell for a while. Sometimes, it's better to lose yourself and know who you actually are and make yourself the better version. I kept listening to him. Though those were mere words that had no direct connection with my current state they worked like magic to me. I whispered to myself, confused as to what had happened. Whisper? I had lost my voice in the fire due to smoke inhalation. I was told that I would never get it back as they were destroyed beyond repair. The voice I had maintained and conditioned daily had disappeared in a snap, leaving behind a gravelly hoarse groan which sounded as if it came right out of a zombie apocalypse movie. Apart from that, I couldn't utter a peep.
