Loyalty Pawn #2 Novels & Stories

He had been working as an escort at a nightclub, leeching off a wealthy older woman and clinging to her without a shred of dignity while pouring drinks and playing the perfect companion. There was no way Melanie would be interested in someone like that. Our confrontation quickly drew the attention of the entire office. Employees gathered around, pointing and gossiping among themselves. Someone asked, "Who's that guy? He's got some nerve talking back to Mr. Young like that." "No idea. Does he even work here? I've never seen him before." Another chimed in, "I think that's the legendary top seller, Kieran Campbell. He's the one who's never around."

However, as soon as the funeral procession was over, he threw down the bunch of white lilies impatiently and said, "Oh, my god! Those two old fools are finally dead. They just wouldn't die for years! Luckily, we succeeded this time!" I was shocked. Old fools? Was he really referring to Jerome and me? Casey stared at our tombstones, the hatred in his eyes making my chest tighten in shock. Why did Casey hate us so much? We were both his birth parents! We had invested 20 years of our lives bringing him up to the best of our ability. We had even put his name down as the sole payee and benefactor on both Jerome's and my insurance policies. Just then, my mother-in-law, Daisy Rothbart, went up to C

Now that he has met her and she isn’t someone trustworthy, I am afraid it will affect and ruin our plans. It has been a long-term plan between us to take Damon down together. Kade pledged his allegiance to me and swore to always be by my side from the moment we met. Things have remained that way until now, and with his mate in the picture, I was sure his loyalty would quaver a little, and I would be left with no choice but to forge ahead with my plans alone.

Unfortunately, she took my assent to mean that I wanted to go back out there. "That's good. Freshen up and come to con 2. We moved there after...well, you know." She turned me to face her. "He's the holy Grail for our business. You can't mess this up. So do whatever it is you need to do to fix this. Securing this account is vital to your continued employment here in our establishment." And with that implied threat, she was gone. Chloe glared at me bitterly. "This is an opportunity people kill just to have. Don't fvck it up. Some of us don't have rich parents to rely on." She glared at me some more before marching out of the restroom.

"You think my past makes me weak? My past made me ruthless. I've been stepped on, overlooked, and dismissed my entire life. I've been abandoned at my own wedding. And I'm still standing. Still fighting. Still winning." I picked up a glass of champagne. "So go ahead. Keep whispering. Keep laughing. But remember this moment. Remember how you felt when you realized exactly who you were dealing with." I took a delicate sip, watching them squirm. "Now. One question." I let the silence stretch. "Are you loyal to Alpha Thornwood?" "Of course!" the blonde sputtered. "We would never question the Alpha!" "We are completely loyal!" the pig-eyed woman added frantically.

he finishes. My heart stills upon hearing his words, and my hand fist into a ball. When the phone creaks under pressure, I loosen my hold. This is it. This was the last piece of confirmation we needed on Mark’s and his father’s involvement. The man they promised Lissa to must be an allied pack’s Alpha or someone who will fight beside them. “That’s not good,” I say through gritted teeth. “Yeah, Man. That’s why I wanted to call. Does he have some sort of vengeance against your pack?”

"So what if I'm a pawn? That woman can't bear children. In the end, she'll still have me to rely on!" I couldn't help the hollow laugh that rose in my chest. The arrogance was blinding, but predictable. "Do you really think someone like Luna Liora, holding power and gold in her hands, would ever entrust her second half of life to a useless pawn? A pawn ruthless enough to strike against the twin who raised him?"

Banging noises came from outside my walls and my brows quirked in confusion. I lived alone. Quickly, I stood, careful not to make a sound. I grabbed the gun I had illegally purchased after I noticed that I was being followed (twice). Flipping it out of the safety lock, I gripped the butt tightly, hiding it behind my back as I opened the door gently. The noise came again, the clacks and bangs of pots and pans sounding through the house. This thief obviously didn't go to stealing school. Cus what in the hell of unstealthiness was this noise?

Now I really could not breathe. “I, Randon Stoneclaw, Moon as my witness, from this hour forward until my last, do pledge my loyalty to the Mountaintop Pack and its Luna, Harmony White. I vow to protect and defend my Luna, my true mate Lily, and these lands from this breath until my last.”

The metal needles completely penetrated the soul core. Agony exploded like thunder. My vision went black. I nearly fainted. Just as my consciousness was about to shatter— The scene changed abruptly. No longer Black Pine Forest. But Grell village's "Memorial Ceremony." In the center of the snow, a bonfire burned. Young Damien knelt before the fire. He wore black mourning clothes. His expression was wooden. My foster mother, the former Luna, slowly held up a black wolf-skin cloak. On the back of the cloak—clearly a tear.
