Loyalty Pawn #2 Novels & Stories

Beta Sylvester said. "Stay calm, Cassian," Ryan mindlinked, already sensing that Cassian was boiling underneath his silence. "We brought gifts for the new Alpha and his Luna," Ryan said to Sylvester. "Thank you," Sylvester said, grinning widely to reveal a gold tooth. "The Luna is my daughter, so I am pleased." "I hope your alphas come with a good deal for alliance," Cassian growled. "Because if I am not satisfied, Blackspire will bear the consequences."

Ruby laid back into the posh white sofa, bouncing a small white ball, to and fro against the wall, "if I had anything special about me, I'd have rob banks with it and wouldn't be broke now." "Thievery is a sin!" "Then I could be the biggest sinner there is in the world." Rydian faked a gasped at the unworried girl and she continued tapping on the, "so are you going to finally tell me what you want from me?" "Are you sure you're ready to hear it? It might need the most heroic deed for the good of the world and if you say you are the biggest sinner, do you deserve to hear it?"

I hear a smug, male voice from somewhere behind me. "How can you be so sure? They could commandeer any ship at the dock, and you've probably got the navy on your tail." Arken is agitated by the sound of it. I make my way up another set of steps on the dock, finding the two men beside a large, wooden wheel. The thief reclines against it with a grin, his body swaying with its subtle turns in spite of his weight being pressed against it, while Arken stands straight with crossed arms and a scowl that makes me want to turn on my heel and march right back down those stairs.

Said the other guy as he took a huge gulp of beer. The cloaked man stood up. He then slowly walked towards the drunkards aiming to asked more but then a loud yell halted his step as he immediately turned to the direction of the sound. A girl in red cloak, wearing a royal insignia slammed the countertop with a stash of gold. She then roared in anger as she asked the bartender (a.k.a owner of the pub.) once again.

We were drowning in a sea of debt they didn't know I knew about. In my past life, I'd been a pawn in Jarrold and Cindy's twisted game, tangled in their mess until it got me killed. And for what? I hadn't gained a thing. Back then, I'd still believed in something as naive as pure love. How pathetically foolish. Now, I knew better. Now, my only true loyalty was to the cold, hard cash that could buy my freedom. Since I was stuck in their game, I might as well play to win.

"You mean it? You’ll back me up?" I nodded, my voice low and serious. "You’ll have my full support. But only if you hold up your end. I need loyalty, Pachi. No games. No double-crossing." He leaned back, rubbing his chin thoughtfully before a satisfied grin broke through. "You’ve got yourself a deal. I’m in."

SCORPION ~KAI'S POV~ The knock came at 9 p.m. I had been sitting at my desk for two hours, just staring at a blank screen. Milo's words were sitting in my chest like something that wouldn't digest. 'He will hurt you. You're a target.' I wasn't writing anything; I was just letting the fear turn over in my stomach. Then, the knock. I opened the door and my breath caught in my throat. Jax was standing there in a black leather biker jacket and dark jeans. He looked so strikingly handsome and dangerous.

If this loyalist movement wanted to use Dante as their pawn, I genuinely might have to send them a thank-you card for the entertainment. After all, a pawn that hangs itself is the easiest to play with.

"Lauren, give me a chance. Let me take care of you. If you don’t want marriage, then let’s just love each other for a lifetime." I froze. He reached across the table. "You don’t have to answer now. No pressure. Even if you refuse, I’ll still be by your side, always your best friend." Before I could respond, chaos erupted at the entrance. "Why won’t you let us in!" "Sir, tonight a private guest has booked out the restaurant." I turned to see Michael and Nora barge in. The waitstaff hesitated. Nora’s pregnancy kept them from pushing too hard. Nora clutched her belly, her voice dripping with mockery, "Lauren, since you can’t give birth, you went and found yourself a toy boy."
