BOUND TO MY ALPHA ENEMY
I had overheard two women, elegant but dripping in insincerity, their claws painted and filed into perfection, their scent too sweet to be trusted, leaning in just some steps behind us near the refreshments.
I hadn’t turned, but I had heard it all.
One of them purred, “Alpha Lucian is something else. Commanding presence, cunning as hell, sharp-minded and calculating. Damn, he’s a dream.”
“And that face,” the other one whispered like it was a sin. “He’s a sin. A hot god of destruction. I’d let him ruin me.”
I nearly crushed Lucian’s fingers right then and there. His hand was warm in mine, yet my fingers curled tighter. Not in fear, not in protectiveness, just pure, unfiltered annoyance.
