“You’re starting to sound like my mom.” Eric chuckled. “I’ll take that as a compliment.” Behind us, the sound of footsteps echoed down the hallway. Hannah appeared first, her blonde hair still slightly messy from sleep. She was once again wearing one of Eric’s oversized hoodies, the sleeves hanging past her hands. “Morning,” she mumbled. Her voice carried that sleepy rasp that meant she had only been awake for about three minutes. I smiled. “Coffee’s fresh.” Hannah brightened instantly. “You’re my favorite person.”

“Kristoff Hale. I want everything. Past. Present. Ghosts he buried and sins he thought were forgotten.” There was a pause. “Timeline?” “Forty-eight hours,” I replied. “No excuses.” “I’ll get it done.” I hung up and leaned back against the wall, finally allowing myself to breathe. Around me, the hospital hummed with indifferent life…machines beeping, footsteps passing, strangers living their normal days while my world burned. Kristoff thought he’d won. The other man turned but was stabbed immediately on his chest. Chris used it as an opportunity to run out of the house. He head down stairs and grabbed a car keys before living the house. He just placed himself on a serious case. Hannah's POV I picked my naked body up as Noah was still sleeping. I looked at the time and saw it was 4:23pm in the afternoon. I stood up to head for the en suite but Noah held me back down. "Don't go anywhere" his husky voice said. "Noah, it's late now" I tell him. My phone vibrates on the nightstand, I grabbed it and saw a message from Megan.

And Hannah, bless her heart, starts fiddling with the edge of her jacket as her cheeks flushed. I raise an eyebrow, stifling a grin. Well, this is interesting. "Daniel," I say, my voice laced with amusement, "this is my old friend, Dr. Hannah Hilton from the Midnight Pack. Hannah, meet Alpha Daniel Black... my ex." The morning sun filtered weakly through the heavy clouds, casting a dull glow over Hampton.
