Birthed For Me (From Guardian to Groom)
Carlos said at last, his voice rough and low, “there’s something I’ve kept from everyone. Something I may never find the courage to tell Mia.”
Maurice’s chest tightened. He had never seen Carlos this way, fragile, uncertain. He leaned forward. “What is it?”
Carlos hesitated, his lips pressing together as though the words themselves were poison. Finally, with a trembling breath, he confessed, “I’m dying, Maurice. The doctors gave me a diagnosis… terminal. My days are numbered.”
The words hit Maurice like a thunderclap. He froze, trying to process, yet forced himself to remain calm.
“I… I don’t know what to say,” Maurice murmured, his voice heavy. “I’m so sorry, Carlos.”
