Her black hair pulled up in a messy bun, she wears a huge puffy coat because of the cold snowy weather, and when she turns in our direction, I see that her baby is in some kind of contraption and strapped onto her chest. She looks between me and Lux and says to Mason, “I didn’t realize you were bringing guests.” She looks back at me and says, “Hi there, I’m Marinette and this little cutie strapped to me is Marigold. Who are you?” I smile, “Nice to meet your Marinette and baby Marigold, I’m Silas and this is my mate, Lux.” She smiles as she looks at Lux and Lux smiles in her direction. Lux says, “It’s nice to meet you, Marinette. I’ve uh… I’ve heard a bit about you.”

Marinette scrunches her nose and then nods and says, “Okay, thanks. Could you bring me Marigold?” The woman grabs the baby out of its bassinet, and I realize that’s where the blueberry scent is coming from. Marinette smiles as she holds the baby in her arms and the woman dismisses herself. Marinette glances at me and says, “So… Chase Croft.” The way she says my name makes butterflies erupt in my stomach.
