Mya didn’t answer, just sipped her coffee and let the quiet fill the space.
By late morning, they’d packed up their things—Trina insisting on an overnight bag full of snacks for Mya—and headed toward the Cross estate. The drive was easy, music low, the air between them calm and familiar.
“You’re really something, you know that?” Trina said suddenly.
Mya glanced over, startled. “What do you mean?”
“You went through hell, and you still have kindness left. Most people would’ve let the world make them bitter.”
