he rasped, his voice a deep timbre that sent shivers down my spine. My pulse raced, my breath coming in short gasps as I met his intense gaze. Fear and confusion warred within me, a maelstrom of emotions that threatened to overwhelm my senses. His gaze flickered to my back, and I instinctively shifted, feeling the soft brush of my hair against my shoulder blades. My fingers traced the skin of my lower back, and then it hit me like a lightning bolt. The moon mark. The symbol that marked me as an Omega—a wolf without a pack, without a true place in this world. The mark that had been a constant reminder of my place, of my worth—or lack thereof.

She trembled beneath my grip, my eyes flashing brighter, my fangs lengthening, and at that moment, a low, dark chuckle echoed in my head. “You know what happens if you mark her, Claude,” Dervic hummed, amusement dripping from his voice. “A wolfless omega can’t bear an Alpha’s mark. And as much as I’d love to see you do it, I’d rather not have her die before I take her.” I ignored him. That intoxicating scent had me too far gone, clouding every thought. Dervic was right. A wolfless omega could never survive an Alpha’s mark. My brothers and I knew this because Dervic, in one of his twisted sessions when he’d taken over, had once marked a wolfless omega by mistake, and she hadn’t survived.

I could feel the triplets’ eyes on me, their presence overwhelming, and the bond snapped. “Look at me, Rebecca” Damien said, his voice softer but still strong. My name sounded so amazing coming from him, and I loved the way it made my skin tingle and heart race. I lifted my eyes, meeting his gray gaze, and the bond ignited in my chest, taking my breath away. Kael’s dark eyes were on me too, and studying my figure, while Lucian’s held a mix of curiosity and something warm, that made my heart race. Magnus stepped forward, towering over me. “This is a mistake,” he said, his voice cold. “You are an Omega, and you can’t be their mate.”

I nodded in agreement. “But he usually visited during the holidays until his Father passed away. He had to take over as Alpha and we discovered we were fated mates. He tapped the screen, initiating the analysis sequence. I kept my breathing steady, waiting for Dr. Voss’s suppressant to fail or succeed. The machine processed the sample, displaying a series of loading bars across the digital screen. The Inquisitors held my arms tightly, preventing me from stepping away. The scanner beeped loudly. Graves looked at the readout, his expression remaining entirely neutral. "Genetic markers indicate a standard omega," Graves stated, lowering the device. "No anomalies detected." I forced myself to stand completely still, offering no visible reaction to the news.

She glares at me, hurling a pan that strikes my chest and makes me stoop. "Really, who do you think you are speaking to? I am your future Luna, so stop talking, you omega!" Her voice was heard clearly. As the weakest members of the pack, omegas are more prone to injury, fatigue, and weakened immune systems than warriors, deltas, gamma, or betas. Being called omega should not feel insulting because of what she is referring to, but because of what she is referring to, it hurt me. The pain in my chest felt like something had broken in that frying pan.

Mia's voice is small but it doesn't stop us from hearing her. "And why don't you deserve to stay there darling?" My mom's gentle Luna voice always helps to ease anyone and I'm hoping it will help Mia and Josh. "We are not Beta mates anymore, we are Omegas, we've lost our mate and therefore should be put back down on the Omega floor," Josh speaks this time but none of us misses the tears in both his and mia's eyes when he mentions the loss of their mate. The former Alpha’s daughter” Jeremy’s voice came out in slow pauses; he knew a female never holds position in the moonstone pack. “will you take back those words! you know where women belong” growls Alpha Frank. “anywhere they want to be, don’t you think so Jeremy, women. Belong. Where. They want to be” Archer smiles at the end of his sentence, and with a sudden jump he gets off the table.

I had seen stars at the end of it and my whole body had shook vigorously, but I liked everything that he did and I did not regret it in the slightest. I looked at the mirror again and saw a big red mark on my neck, it was already fading but it was still somehow obvious. It must be the 'mate mark' that woman had told me about, I had remembered him biting the same spot last night and that was the point where I could not remember anything anymore. Everything went black after that. The mark was already fading, it must be because he was not my mate coupled with the fact that I was an Omega, I wondered what would happen if I found my mate, would he be as nice as the Alpha?
