Xander Hayes The door slammed, echoing against the morning silence as I hopped from the driver's side of the Audi A8 L, Peter Monroe's preferred vehicle for transport. Three months into this job and I still can't get a hang of not being early. I guess it's just stuck with me after spending all those years in my line of work. Besides, I know firsthand not to keep bosses waiting.

The plan even promised to not increase any fees in a short period of time. Madelyn read the terms and conditions that were written on it and thought anyone could have easily agreed to it. They cheated on Mr. Moore, yet the chairman did not crush them. He even gave him a large sum of wealth to leave B City. Since when did the cruel chairman become so generous? Astra's pov: I tried to dodge him. He was too quick. All I could do was turn around. Ugh! He got me. Blood gushed down my back. It hurt so bad. Blood! More blood now. It made me nauseous. Why was all this happening? I couldn't hold back my tears. What hurt me more than the wound on my back was all that was happening around me. Dad tried so hard to make us a peaceful pack. Cash popped in the DVD. “Let’s have a look-see.” The rides were painful to watch. Not because of the reminder of physical pain, but because it looked as if Chase McKay had never ridden a bull. After they watched all the short test rides, Cash inserted the disk with Chase’s winning rides, or at least the rides he’d managed to hang on for the full eight seconds.

Vomit spilled through the gaps in the wire mesh and fell into the sea. The winch restarted and pulled the cage back to the 50th floor. Anisa curled up in the corner, her whole body twitching. Floyd picked up a walkie-talkie. His voice came through the speaker and reached clearly into the cage. "Even an old man could handle this ride, so why is a VIP like you throwing up? Let's do it again." The second drop began. This time, it accelerated even more. The instant the cage stopped, Anisa's head slammed into the iron railing, tearing open the skin around her eye socket.

The final moment of the race was a contest between Lauren, Wanda, and another top rider. Lauren pushed herself to the front, her brows furrowed in fierce concentration. “She’s going to lose,” I whispered, smiling. Kendra looked puzzled. I knew every expression Lauren could make in every circumstance. She couldn’t hold on. No sooner had I spoken than Lauren faltered. Wanda crossed the line first, followed closely by the other rider. Lauren crashed heavily onto the ground, and the riders behind her surged forward, pushing her rank off the first page entirely.

But being surrounded by people from both sides, we couldn't actually interact with each other. "This used to be Arlene's big tradition," Red explained. "A pack-wide potluck at her place the night before a group got on the road for a big out-of-town mission. I've actually kinda missed it. The last one we had was right before the Mexico incident." "That was when Cyrus's father was killed?" I asked. Red nodded. "Him and eleven others. Lola, Dax, and Mac were the only ones on that mission that made it outta there alive. D*mned hunters just ambushed 'em. That last potluck was the last time things really felt whole."

I refuse to believe that no one can deal with her! As the elevator doors closed, I caught a glimpse of the rain pouring down outside. Those two vans were never coming back. The next day, the company's late arrival rate hit eighty percent. The tech park was already remote, and furthermore heavy rain had flooded several roads. Ride-hailing queues were at least two hours long. Before this, people could nap on the shuttle vans and arrive on time, even grab breakfast at the office. Today, they all looked like they had just crawled out of a storm. Pants soaked with mud, faces dark and miserable.

"You have lived a life of luxury all these years. Have you ever suffered or gotten hurt all this time?" I looked coldly back at him as my hands fell limply by my side. It was the first time my pain made me laugh. His tone softened, and it reminded me of old times when we were in love, and he was gentle with me. "Once this busy period is over, I'll accompany you to visit the director. My migraine has been working up again. You should make some time to give me a massage."

Yet, she seemed to have forgotten all about it. She didn't just forget about it. She even let another man ride my prized and most beloved horse without telling me. Could it be that even she didn't belong to me anymore as well? I clenched my fists tightly and suppressed the violent urge in my chest. Cecil strode over and moved in front of Hazel to apologize to me. "Mr. Blanchard, one of the company's potential clients is a huge fan of horseback riding, and Hazel only brought me here to train my riding skills. You won't get mad at me for that, will you?"
