“That’s not true.” The man looked at her. No emotion. Just fact. “You were selected.” Lena shook her head. “No… I’m nobody.” The man tilted his head. “That’s why you were chosen.” Silence. Zayden turned sharply toward him. “What does that mean?” The man didn’t answer. Instead He pulled out a small device. Pressed a button. And spoke one final line. “You were never supposed to remember her at all.” Then— The device beeped. And the man collapsed instantly.

Chris awoke with a start, his eyes darting around the room before settling on Thalia by his side. Relief washed over her face as she saw him conscious. "Chris," she whispered, "where have you been for two years? I was so worried." Chris groaned, rubbing his temples as if trying to piece together fragmented memories. "I... I went after the remnants of the Manian pack, trying to eliminate them. But I was captured. They injected me with something that made me lose my memories. A man helped me and told me the only way to recover my memory was to get close to someone familiar. The only person I could remember was you, Thalia."

I quickly looked down at Yvette. Her eyes were red, but she held my hand tightly. When Harold heard what she said, his expression froze for a moment. "Tell me honestly. How bad was Riverton?" The question hit something in me instantly. Images flashed through my mind before I could stop them. Cold interrogation rooms. Blood under fluorescent lights. The echo of screaming thoughts that weren’t mine. One memory surfaced harder than the rest. A suspect sitting across from me in tears while his mind replayed the murder over and over again. I swallowed hard and forced the images back down. "Bad enough." Mercer took one look at my face and didn’t ask for details. I was grateful for that because I really didn’t want to talk about it.

“Haven, what are you saying?” Mack asked as she stared in the direction of the man. “I have seen him recently.” She said as she looked at him. “Mack, you know I remember everything.” “I know.” He said as she looked at the older man, “She is a genius. She has a photographic memory as well. If she says she saw him, she did.” “Everyone here is clean, though.” The older man said as he looked in the direction of the man, and he took a large breath of air into his lungs. “He isn’t one of mine, though.”

A jumper ghost was doing a handstand on the desk with its eyeballs stretched six feet out of their sockets. Every ghost here had scattered facial features. They were barely recognizable as anything that was once human. Severed limbs and mangled flesh lay everywhere, and the stench of blood filled the air. Cold sweat soaked through my clothes. I clamped a hand firmly over my mouth and refused to let out a whimper. "Stay calm. The worse it gets, the calmer you need to be," I muttered and reminded myself. I lifted my stiff legs and inched toward the corner, but my foot landed on something hard and round at the worst moment possible.

These are my kids?!Why don't I remember anything,is this my husband?. I took off the oxygen tank from my mouth,I waited for a while to take all this information in.

Fury filled Shawn's chest, but he couldn't come up with a retort. He clenched his teeth. "Give me your food!" He approached me, but I swung my stick at him hard. This guy spent most of his time in an office. So, he was no match for me, who went on survival trips and trained every day. The pain kept him away from me. Their group was probably on a hunt for supplies, but he had the misfortune of running into me. I arched an eyebrow at him. "Queenie's the Elf Queen. Talk to her if you want supplies. She won't starve you."
