I broke it. I ducked a blow that would’ve shattered my ribs and slammed a pipe into his left knee. Not enough to drop him, but enough to make him shift weight. I used that second to shove him back into a stack of crates. J yelled behind me. “Carl, left!” I twisted and narrowly avoided a shot from a second MiB coming down the ramp. Schnell grabbed a weapon from the wall, something magnetic and experimental, and fired a blue-white bolt that knocked the second MiB clean over the railing and down into the chasm.

I hope he’s okay back there. Meanwhile, in the play area, Mikey stacked Legos into a wobbly tower. Another boy sat across from him, Mikey couldn't see his face clearly, so he moved closer, wanting to borrow a Lego piece. “Hey, can I borrow a—” Mikey said cheerfully, shocked when the boy turned around. “Mikey? What are you doing here?” “Leo? I could ask you the same thing…wait if you're here, does that mean your dad is—”

Little Mike yelled. Little Mike’s hands left his throat and he gasped for breath. Two other men were trading punches with Little Mike, two men he didn’t know. Little Mike pulled a shiv from his pocket and Jake jumped in between him and his target. The shiv went into Jake’s ribs and blood gushed from the wound. “We got you,” a voice said. The other man was beating the shit out of Little Mike and Jake slid down the shower wall.

"You're going to break into a locked warehouse? In rival territory?" ​"Correction," Mike glanced over at me, his blue eyes flashing with a wild, reckless adrenaline that made my chest tighten. " We are going to break in. I need someone small and fast enough to slip through the ventilation window on the upper deck to unbolt the main loading door from the inside. Jake and Chad are too heavy, and they’d make too much noise. You're perfect for it."

Mikey said as he stood up, pulling me close to him and lifting me off the ground like a bride being carried on her wedding day. I heard my father, DK, and the rest of the people outside as they were about to walk in but before they can, Mikey darted past them and he started running away. “I’m sorry, Uncle Drake,” Mikey said as he paused in front of my father, "but Anya and I needed to talk." I can see DK ready to jump but Mikey didn’t wait anymore second and started running while carrying me in his arms. Mikey was a very fast runner, and it doesn't matter if he was in his wolf form or not, no one can beat him when it comes to running.

He jokes, and there is laughter throughout the crowd as I hear Mindy giggle. “Mikey was the type of friend who was always there for you. If you had a flat tire in the middle of the night, you could call him to pick you up,” A laugh comes from everyone, and I glance back to see one of Mike’s old High school friends raise his hand as he chuckles at the laughter that ensues at his expense.

Imogen This club/bar is really something else. We got picked up by the limo and a driver who calls himself Mikey Mike. Cute. Actually, he was such a sweetheart like a gentle giant with his bald head, gold hoop earring in his left ear and broad body but with the largest toothy grin you could possibly imagine. He held the door open for us and made sure Autumn and I were comfortable before driving off. Mikey Mike pointed out there was champagne on ice and some snacks if we fancied them.
