Two hours pass...... It was a dark, pitch black night in the forest that we had crashed in. The orange intensity of the camp fire pierced the blacken scenery of our rendezvous point. The people who say that camping is a dying pass time clearly never went camping with people who could do the things we can. A shuriken made of ion energy flew around a barrage of wooden sticks with marshmallows on the end falling above the fire. The shuriken slices through the middle of each stick, having the sticks land in the ground allowing the marshmallow side to lean five inches away from the fire.

We took a moment to quench our thirst and bask in the serenity of the moment, the gentle babbling of the water soothing our souls. With renewed energy, we gathered fallen branches and dry twigs, fashioning a makeshift fire pit. The crackling flames danced and flickered, casting a warm glow upon our surroundings. Suddenly, Jeremy and Raven appeared, carrying several packets of marshmallows. "You know what's missing on a night like this?" Jeremy said excitedly. "A bonfire and roasted marshmallows!" Their laughter broke out. Without thinking, they started to light a small fire in the centre of the garden and roasted marshmallows together. Small talk continued to flow, about their dreams, future plans, even silly jokes that made them laugh out loud. And for a moment, there was no mystery. No fear. Just them, a small campfire, and the happiness that felt so real.

Irene's POV The bonfire crackled in the center of camp. Wolves had gathered in a loose circle around it. Sitting on logs. Leaning against trees. Some standing with arms crossed. All of them watching the small clearing that had been designated as tonight's stage. It was Mia's idea. "The children need something to do," she had said earlier. "Something to take their minds off the danger. And honestly, so do we." So Carl, Karin, and Lila had spent the afternoon planning. Whispering in corners. Giggling over secrets they refused to share.

We get to work, then, all of us. The boys gather firewood while I check our supplies in the tent. They went untouched by wildlife by some continued magic with which the forest blessed us.
