He wanted me to stop but he looked helpless. I opened my eyes again and sat up with a loud gasp. I was gasping for air. I was all sweaty. I looked around while coughing hard. I was inside my bedroom. I sighed and ran my fingers through my curly hair. I looked up at the door. I screamed loudly as I saw her for the first time in front of me. "Don't worry, Mira. The Angels are coming. They could not save me but they will rescue my beloved baby sister." She said and I jumped off of my bed. I went towards her. I wanted to touch her but as I went closer, she suddenly disappeared. I moved the curtains and looked around. But she was gone.

Miracle rattled the slips, checking if there were any secret papers hidden in between. But there was none. The second half of the story was gone. "C'mon... Don't do this to me. I have to know the story." Miracle pressed her fingers to her lips, murmuring lines of undefinable words that echoed softly in the dimly lit room. As she chanted, a gentle swirl of white light unfurled from her fingertips, enveloping her hand in a shimmering embrace. Silvery tendrils of smoke swirled into the room, weaving in response to her invocation. They laid atop her mark of divinity on her chest, and seconds later, the bulging veins around her reddening mark began to ease.

Alex concluded with them and turned back to the work he had built up on his table Brain and Caleb left and informed the maids on all they would be needing for the ritual and they should get it in place little by little before the main day for the ceremony arrives. Three wizards raised their hands, purple webs spinning like spider nests. “Mira!” I shouted. Mira raised both palms, drawing a circle of resistance. A silver shield bloomed, enveloping the ritual like thin glass. Tavien followed from behind, throwing pulsating rune nails. “Destroy!” I charged. The silver sword at my waist finally revealed its true power. It struck the ground in a sweeping motion. The circle broke just as Mira spun the shield into a counterpressure. The purple web shattered, the three witches rolled backward in the wave. The fourth mortar came like a small meteor, locking the center of the circle and melting the symbol into mud.

"Come back. Come back to us." The bonds blaze. White light everywhere. Not my magic. Our magic. All four of us combined. Pouring into Mira. Filling her. Bringing her back. Her chest moves. A breath. Small. Weak. But there. "Again," Kieran says. "Keep going." We pull harder. Pour everything into her. Every bit of life. Every bit of love. Everything we have. Another breath. Stronger. Another. Her eyes flutter. "Mira!" I sob. "Mira, baby, come back."

“What is it?” I stepped forward, hesitant but determined. “I know it might sound ridiculous, but… I saw someone. A man. In my mirror this morning. Grey hair, stormy eyes, but not old. He wasn’t just a reflection either—he was there. Staring at me. And then he just disappeared.” Aurora’s expression didn’t change much, but I saw it—just a flicker, a shift in her eyes. My blood went cold at his words, and my fingers turned numb as I snatched his phone to look. “Play it back and you’ll see it.” He said, now laughing about it, and I did; all that came out of my mouth was "Dear God," as I stared at the sight of Mira running into the water before she began to transform, before she was fully submerged, and a voice could be heard as they captured her footage. “Oh, my God!” I staggered as Alec laughed again, saying I could not possibly believe the video and that it was clearly AI. I didn’t let him finish and asked where he got this and before he could answer, I could see it was from some group.

A cold voice echoed behind her. She swirled, her heart stopping. Alexa stood before her, eyes glowing, lips curled into a cruel smile. Without delay, Mira took a fighting stance. “You're not real.” “You’re weak,” Alexa hissed. “You think you can defeat me? You're wrong, Mira. You’ll never beat me.” Mira held her stance, even though her leg was slightly trembling. “This isn’t real.” Alexa laughed. “Isn’t it? You think you’re strong because you opened a portal? You think you’re ready?”

Mira's heart thumped against her chest vigorously as she jolted on the bed. Cohen woke up by her sudden movement. "Babe, what's wrong? Are you feeling sick?" Cohen asked, touching her forehead as if he wanted to feel her body temperature. Mira didn't answer him and rushed to the patio. She looked up at the sky, and her electric blue eyes changed to crimson red. Thousands of four-winged beings flying in the sky, swirling around as if they were waiting for their prey to come out.
