Lucien continued, “You will be with me, day and night, until I figure out who you really are… and why I can’t touch you.” Mireya blinked, her mind was spinning. She barely caught the words, but when it clicked, when the meaning of the bargain she had just made settled in her bones, she stopped breathing. A bargain with a monster. “Very well then,” Lucien said, straightening his posture. “Come to my office, now. Don’t keep me waiting.” And before she could respond, before she could process his command, he simply turned and walked away. After a few steps, and in a heartbeat, he was gone.

That, or he stayed silent instead of giving into Lily’s delusions. Miranda stands from the couch. She runs the palms of her hands over the skirt of her dress, flattening any wrinkles that form in the fabric. My eyes take their time examining her body. She looks magnificent in her dress. The dark purple color compliments her complexion and it matches her bright green eyes. My breath gets caught in my throat and I have to tear my gaze off of her before she catches me looking. “I’ll get going,” Miranda breathes out. “No!” The word escapes my mouth before I can stop it. We face each other and I have to tell my body to breathe again. “I want a DNA test.”

It looked like a blob of jelly if not for its hideous head and its wide eyes that were staring at me in hate. Its jelly like hands reached out for Miranda who was cowering behind me and she grabbed my hands hard, digging her nails into my skin to not let the hideous monster take her away. “Go away” She shrieked and put me in between herself and the monster. Was she going to use me as a meatshield? I struggled to let go of her hold on me and also threw rocks and pebbles at the monster but my puny attempts did little to dissuade it.

He sighed, Miranda's gaze rose, and their gazes locked. Why was he instructing her to take his pants down when he could do it himself? "I'm afraid I can't... I'm terrified." She murmured something. She didn't want to see the monster who had torn her legs apart the night before. Then he pushed her hands gently towards his crotch. Miranda eventually got her hands on it. As she gazed at his beast protruding out of his pants, she swallowed down her saliva fearfully.

"Aurora! Can you hear me? Look at me, Aurora, Aurora! It's me. Look at me, damn it!" Still no answer. "Move her out of here, Marco. Quick! She needs first-aid," I heard Dominic's voice. Looking up, I saw he was standing inside the cage. When did he come? I scooped her up in my arms and marched out without a moment's delay. The crowd, the commotion, the noise, the hustle—everything felt inordinately frivolous around me. La Preda had no first-aid care or medical facility; after all, it was a fight club for criminals. The only thing available around was water, ice-bags, and bandages.

" you promise you won't ever leave me?" Miranda asked with a pleading voice and Justin realised that she was most scared of being Left alone. Maybe that's the reason she had few attachments, because she was insecure. His heart ached for her. Miranda knew that what she was asking was kinda stupid bit right now,all she wanted to hear was him promising never to leave her . She had loved in the past and all her loved ones finally left her all alone in this desolate world. " I promise you baby, In Front of your parents grave and in the name of the highest, if I ever leave you,may lightning strike..." He did not get to finish his words before Miranda covered his mouth, horrified.

Miranda pulled her hand out of Jamie's grip and rushed back to the bed. Lifting the sheet anxiously, she noticed the gold necklace with the wolf paws pooled on the mattress. Grabbing the chain and quickly slipping it around her neck, Miranda returned to Jamie's side. "An accessory? Really?" Jamie asked her friend. "What? It's my first Werewolf and Vampire rodeo." Miranda joked in hope of easing the tension growing in her veins due to her fear. "Fair. You ready?" Jamie wondered while looking at the door and hearing the grunts of Mark and Joshua on the opposite side of the cabin's log all.

“Anne, put down your bow!” The chief was aiming at his back. “I’m only going to stun him.” “Put it down, NOW!” “Fine.” She unnocked her bow and went away. “Your name’s Brock, right?” Miranda began. “Listen, I know it’s traumatic after almost getting eaten by an I-see-you tree. Believe me, we’ve been dealing with all sorts of monsters here. But, hey, you already faced two kinds of monsters. That makes you a brave man —”

At the bottom of the letter, in her careful handwriting, she wrote: Miranda Prospero accepts with gratitude and determination. As the magical courier disappeared with her response, carrying word of her decision to Moonrise Academy, Miranda felt the last threads of her sheltered childhood snap away.
