I’d slipped away after the snowball fight, cheeks still pink from cold and laughter, needing quiet to sort through the mess inside my head. Shelves stretched high, packed with leather-bound books that looked older than the pack itself. I pulled one down at random, thick, dark cover stamped with a crescent moon. It was the peak of the heat cycle, a time when the pack’s inhibitions dissolved into a chaotic blur of lust. Normally, I would have been in the Moonlight Hall, locked in Ahri’s arms. But even with the bond shredded, the connection hadn't fully dissolved. The Moon Goddess was playing a cruel game.

I wait til I hear feel the cold air drifting into the kitchen and the soft sound of a door closing before glancing into the hallway again. Through the doors glass I could see Embers back to me. The left side of her body was eliminated white from the moon and her hair looked like silver threads as they hung down her back. Creeping towards the door she shifts and a second later a see a silvery gold wolf dashing across the snow, her body low as she ran.

It had been hours, more , accurately, it was morning, the moon had finally bid the sky goodbye and welcomed the hot sun that splashed a faint orange rays across the tiled floor. My gaze sweeping through the pages, yet nothing. Nothing about this relates to My Scar. Wolves who shifted on a non-full moon night were mostly weak ones, but she was on the full moon, late-bloom wolves are the strongest, and yet her wolf was weak. I rustled out a sigh, my gaze flicked to my phone. 9:21 am. I stood, grabbed my phone and walked out of the library, but not without putting the book back onto the shelves, making sure no one knew what I had been reading.

It was tragic to switch from April, featuring my favorite Elijah Westwood, to André’s triple threat favorites, the Rossi Brothers. I know what you’re thinking. I’m a werewolf, so why do I read romance books about werewolves? Because I can, that’s why. Because the lore in books doesn’t align with my reality, making it an interesting escape. Plus, if you haven’t read a Moonlight Muse book, you really shouldn’t judge.
