I went a soft red, “Nevermind! Don’t answer that!” Raven shook her head with a smile on her lips, “I was afraid that you were going to find out my secret. When my mother died something happened to me. A power was released inside me that I never knew of before. Raven looked the same as usual, though. Her arms were decorated with sparkly bangles and bulky rings lay on her fingers. She pushed her black hair over her shoulder and it cascaded softly down her back. "So, where are you both off tonight, then?" Mom asked excitedly, sounding like a teenage girl. "There's a New Year's Eve party at Ross's house," Raven began. "I know it's going to be good because my horoscope says I should focus on myself more for this month so that means I'm getting blackout tonight."

Mom told her as she smoothed out her red dress. "Got it!" Raven said, rushing off to the bathroom with her purple tulle skirted dress in hand. My chest heaved with silent sobs as I clutched the phone to my ear, unwilling to let go of the sound of his voice. My mother passed away when I was a child. A car accident. I hardly remembered her face, honestly; I was so young that all I remembered were flashes of beautiful brown eyes, honeysuckle blonde hair, and a sweet voice that used to sing to me when I was frightened of thunderstorms. “Who is your mother?” Ravena swallowed hard, shame burning her cheeks. She lifted her tear-streaked face, meeting Loretta’s gaze with trembling honesty. “My mother… is Mariseth Luna,” she confessed. The hall seemed to grow colder at the name. Murmurs rippled among the guards and servants, their shock barely contained.

“Raven, baby... please.” Raven didn’t say anything, she just stood there like she was tired of everything. She was quiet and her were red like she’d cried herself sick. Her mouth twitched like she was holding back screams, or curses, or both. She wasn’t trembling, though and that scared me. She was too calm and when she's being quiet, she was the most dangerous. My mother might as well be a detective because once we start trying to negotiate dates and stuff she would only suspect something's up!... Besides you already agreed that you'd abide by everything I say, that's part of your job right now” Tristan whispers back and Raven eyes him, she huffs a sigh before pulling her head away. She turns to Tristan's mom and she was grinning at them which made Raven smile awkwardly “I didn't know you two were this close! If we had known we should've arranged the marriage sooner!” Tristan's mom exclaimed and Tristan scratched his nape

“What do you suggest I do now? I don't want to ask too many questions because—” “Just keep your mouth shut and pretend like nothing happened. If anybody asks for my mother, tell them she had a family emergency and had to leave California urgently.“ “But—” Raven ended the call and broke the sim on the phone just in case. Then he shut his eyes and ran his hands over his hair in anger. Venom walked in from inside the building, his expression blank as always. “What have you been doing?“ “I just got a call that my mother has been abducted,” Raven soberly answered.
