“Another vision?” I nodded, swallowing hard. “My mother. She’d warned me about the traitor in the pack.” My voice faltered, in the realization of what she just said. My mother had belonged to a secret order, the Keepers of the Lunar Chosen, who were assigned to protect a prophecy prophesizing a wolf that would unify the packs under the light of the Moon Goddess. Elliot had told me that yesterday, his blue eyes dark as he explained how she’d been slaughtered by Rhys. He'd said that Rhys murdered my parents to prevent the prophecy, but his words seemed unfinished, like a puzzle with pieces missing.

It’s rare that I dress up. As I stared into the mirror, barely recognizing myself, I realized I am the spitting image of my mother. I have every one of her features. I twirled around to get the full effect of my dress. It’s long and puffy like a princess, with no straps and a low back that shows the one tattoo I could get even though my father was covered in them and every male pack member. The tattoo represented my human, wolf, and witch. It’s the moon, earth, and a ball of magic intertwined into a triangle. It reminded me of the greatness I can become and will hope to one day achieve.

I shrugged, looking at my tattoos once again. "They aren't ordinary tattoos, they represent good versus evil," my mother's face turned sour when she muttered the last word, "Now, Phoenix darling, clean up this mess and cover that dreadful thing because if the neighbours do see it we don't want rumors around tone that we are satinic when that's simply not true." The one she kept was this one. She told them that it is written in honor of Goddess Soteria who is the spirit of salvation and preservation. She had said that “May the Goddess save you just like you have saved me from this difficulty”. I sat on the ground with my back leaning against the bed and my locket in hand. I clutched it tightly as tears again fell from my eyes. A kiss just a kiss had made me a whore in my father’s eyes.

The tattoo was subtle but unmistakable. Intricate lines formed a geometric design that had always intrigued me. My fingers lightly traced the mark, and a flashback hit me like lightning. I remembered my father sitting beside me while I was bedridden, fragile, and feverish. "This will protect you, my little one. The priestess is the person closest to the King Alpha, and she knows how to invoke the blessings of the Moon Goddess. This talisman will be your shield against sickness." He had whispered while holding my tiny hand.

He's tattooed in my mind anymore and it's impossible for it to be erased anymore. And his mark... I have it, I can still feel it. If I can just take it back, then I would but no... It's permanent that I won't be able to remove it or else I'll die. Yes, I'm not lying. I'll really die if I'll remove it. That's one of the rules of the moon Goddess and I one should ever break it including me. I'm afraid to die... I don't want to die yet now that I have my mother with me.
