I heard the sound of footsteps, heavy and deliberate, coming from the back of the room. The three masked figures froze, their heads turning towards the sound. "What was that?" one of them whispered, their voice trembling slightly. I took advantage of their distraction to try and break free. I struggled against their grip, but they were too strong. And then, a voice spoke out of the darkness, a voice that sent shivers down my spine. "Oh found you my runner way mate," it said, the words dripping with amusement.

No time at all. Then I hear it. A tiny hesitant beep. Faint. Intermittent. A single spark in the void. It flickers. Once. Twice. Again. It grows. Faster now. Louder. Stronger. Insistent. A pulse of light and sound, small at first. Then much louder like something demanding attention. Tugging at a place deep inside me. And then the voices.nThree distinct tiny voices. Soft. Trembling. Loving. “Mommy…”

Together. The creature opened its mouth. At first, it made no sound at all. Then, in a voice stitched from pieces it had no right to own, it said, “Little moon.” My mother’s voice. A pause. “Sila.” Mine. Another pause. Then Ty’s, rough and intimate and devastatingly close: “Come here.” Revulsion tore through me so hard I nearly stepped back. “That’s what it does,” I whispered. “Not just learning but copying.”

I asked myself, my face etched with curiosity and confusion. What on earth was going on? How did I end up in a strange forest with nothing but hush whispers and voices from unknown sources? "Do you realize how special you are, little wolf." The voice came again and this time around, I decided to respond. "Who are you? And what do you want from me?" "You've got such a fierce vibe with how feeble and tiny you are, little wolf. Interesting." The voice said again, and after that, I heard multiple laughters echoing at different corners.

???'s POV Amidst the vast expanse of the celestial realm, I found myself floating among the stars, my consciousness adrift in a sea of cosmic wonders. Suddenly, a commanding voice reverberated through the void, pulling me from my reverie with its otherworldly resonance. "Little thing," the voice called out, its words echoing through the cosmos like the distant rumble of thunder. Startled, I responded tentatively, my voice barely a whisper in the vastness of space. "Who... who's there?"

Mira yelled, struggling to access the dampener console. But the Echo didn’t move. Didn’t need to. He just stood in the center of it all—hands at his sides, eyes closed, like a god in prayer. Then he opened his mouth— And every voice in the room spoke at once. Their own voices. Distorted. Replayed. Mimicked. “Carl Maddox, Ophelia Wolfe, Mira Kassel, Nadine Ayre.” Each name echoed from their own lips—except they hadn’t spoken.
