I mumbled. Raising my hand up, I started. “I, Megan Prescott, reject you, Alpha Austin Sinclair of Crescent Moon Pack, as my mate and Alpha. From this day forward, our bond is shattered.” “Oh, my… Luna, you shouldn’t. I mean, the Alpha…” Kayla stuttered. I could see excitement gleaming in her eyes. Hence, I uttered those words with tears brimming in my eyes. Instantly, the thread vanished, and Austin groaned. His eyes grew wide. He probably couldn’t believe that I could reject him.

She would have felt it. Whether they have sex or not is, no longer, any of my business. I can't wait to get out of here, so I can break our bond and never get to know whether he is breathing or dead again. Megan muttered inwardly as she slowly rose back up with her father after the pack leader accepted their bows. Decidedly not meeting Jake's eyes, Megan tightened her hold on her father's arm, raised her head up and followed her father into the already filled and buzzing hall.

~ RIG ~ Charlie stared at me, half the house still between us. His eyes were pleading and I could feel the ache, the tearing inside him. He opened his mind, begging for me to see… Mate. Meg was his mate. He couldn’t deny it. But he was conflicted.

That's when my fantasies changed and my body betrayed me. I cough as another round of shivers rack my body. It doesn't stop the memories from filling my mind. Meagan's smile and her love for life. Meagan so frail at the end. Her cold, shaky hand on mine when she asked for my promise to look after Tahr. She cared nothing about the pain-only cared about her beloved dragon.

The more the men talked the more it sounded like Mystrel was asking Dregan to stay and join his pack to help with the rogue vampires. "You're mated to a vampire princess, that's impressive and unusual. Perhaps we are evolving to interbreed and create a superior species," Dregan said firmly and all of the men nodded their heads. I was the only one that thought it was all hogwash. I felt the pups kick and grinned slightly rethinking the possibilities that what he suggested was coming true. Jay and Jacob passed a blood bag to Lennex and Dregan. I thanked them for the one they handed to me and bit the bag as I leaned back watching the sun slowly setting. The sound of frantic wolf howls filled th

“I was wrong about you initially, and I apologize for that. But Miss Maeve, don’t let Xaden’s words and actions bring you down. He will come around eventually, and things will be normal again.” “I heard that Princess Mia ended her engagement with Lucas,” I whispered. “She wants Xaden.” “And Xaden wants you,” Maggie reassured me. “You are his fated mate and the mother of his child.” “Right now, he doesn’t think I’m either,” I said softly. “He doesn’t believe me.” “Then prove him wrong,” she told me. I looked up at her and I saw how serious her eyes were. It gave me a small confident boost and I nodded. Maggie smiled before she stood to her feet.

Then she turned the screen and Aira groaned while both Carter and Vincent stared at it with their mouths wide open. On the screen, there was a picture of an old first-person game that Vincent had played back in college. The character Meghan was showing them was the main player’s companion, a high mage that helped the main player through his adventure. The character that most of the guys in their dormitory had a crush on. Mila was a character with a sexy body and the perfect voice that would draw you in to play the game for hours just to hear it. Vincent had remembered reading the novel and cursing the hero for ending up with a woman like her.

The tone of Reggie’s voice is skeptical and sarcastic. I swallow the anger from his dismissal and continue. “Aside from the fact that his dad is a werebear, I broke the mate bond, so this is supposed to be our last lifetime. Maya won’t be able to continue with the cycle. I guess he was born before I broke the bond.” Milo and Reggie trade looks before Milo takes over the conversation. “Alright, so when are you going to tell Kas? Because she has a right to know and it’s not our place to tell her.”

Madz exclaimed, looking more terrified than I was as she grabbed my shoulders. I frowned. I knew Madz was a drama queen, but what if she was right? What if the Regent Luna kills me after finding out I got pregnant by his son?! I suddenly felt so sick in my stomach that I started to gag. “Not here!” Madz squealed in disgust. ***

I was a fighter—a protector—but now I was having trouble speaking in front of her. “Ronan,” she said, her voice gentle, “Do you believe we can beat Augustus?” I looked at her, trying to understand how she felt. “We’re stronger when we work together. We have our mates. We will not give up on our pack.” I wanted to sound confident but fear crept into my voice. The rogue king’s threat felt very real. Dale nodded, but then paused, turning to look at me closely, her eyes searching for something more. “I hope we can discuss… this,” she pointed between us, “the mate bond. It’s a lot to think about, right?”
