We follow Alpha Caleb, and the rain slowly begins to stop. The earth is wet and soon we leave the field of long grass and head into the forest. Mud sticks to my paws and I pick them up higher, flinging it behind us. Growling is heard behind me, and I turn back to find Alpha Caleb’s three pack members, covered in mud. Lila laughs loudly and I whine, apologizing. I just wanted it off my paws, I didn’t mean to hit them.

The ground beneath our paws thudded as we ran, the scent of pine and damp earth filling our sensitive noses. As we entered the dense foliage, we felt the claws of our pursuers closing in. Our wolves exchanged a glance, determination flickering in our eyes. We needed a plan. A hidden cave provided the shelter we sought. Blood dripped from our fur as we huddled in the darkness of the cave, our laboured breaths echoing against the cool walls. Wounded and battered, we knew we couldn't keep up the fight much longer. We listened intently, hoping to hear the distant roar of engines and the thud of our parents' rescue team. But for now, the only sounds were the distant howls of our pursuers.

A tiny brown pup with a white circular patch on its forehead looked up at me in dismay, its soaking wet fur sticking to its body, along with sand and all kinds of dirt that would be a pain in the butt to clean off. Chuckling at his sorrowful expression, I knelt down to pat his little head. "What's the matter? You weren't allowed to play in the sea?" Another whine told me that indeed, that had been the scenario. Looking forward, I saw two wolves rushing through the waves. The bigger wolf with dark brown fur and black patches and a smaller wolf with complete black fur. The waves were high, but I wasn't worried. Cameron would never let anything happen to his precious princess.

I paused to see and the smell of it was even stronger. I find a shape down in the mud, a print, almost like a dog’s, but stretched and split, the toes too long. There are two, side by side, one bigger, one small. I kneel down to touch it, fingertips cold, but the print is fresher than the ground around it. I can almost feel the thing breathing, as if the paw itself is a mouth.

The torrential storm continued to douse the earth in fresh water, and before long the ground was drenched and inches deep in rich black mud. Once their thirst was quenched, the pups quickly realized that the rain was more of a gift than a curse. Not only did it send all the Jungle’s scary animals running for shelter, but it created some of the biggest, muddiest puddles they’d ever seen in their lives. Riley realized it first, jumping with both feet into a huge puddle and squealing with delight when water went splashing in every direction. “Look at me, look at me!” She cried, hopping into another.

For a few minutes I forgot everything else. We sat on the couch. Pink picked up her favorite book about Whiskers, a brave little mouse. "From the beginning?" she asked. "Always," I said. I read about Whiskers packing snacks and leaving home. Pink listened, eyes bright. She asked if she could be brave like Whiskers. I told her she already was. She nodded, half-asleep, but insisted I finish. When Whiskers returned home safe, Pink sighed, content. "That was a great story," she said.

POV: AARON My paws struck the water formed by the fine drizzle that soaked my fur, the sound muffled by the steady rhythm of my steps on the drenched ground. The cold tried to seep in, but it couldn’t penetrate the thick Lupine coat that protected me. The longing and desperate need to see my pup burned in my chest, a flame nothing could extinguish. Rigan was alive. I released a howl to the sky, a burst of pure happiness that echoed through the forest, reverberating among the tall, shadowed trees.

He asked, I look at him and there I saw a dog wagging his tail. "No," I responded that made him gloomy. "I promise I won't meddle with you." He said. I just ignored him and continued what I am doing. I've been reading this book titled 'Lily of the Valley meets Wolf Boy'. It's a famous book written by the most famous author nowadays, which is Phoenix. The story is about a sick but energetic girl that met a weird boy who was raised by wolves. They met in a city where the boy got lost. That boy is kind of anxious about how people treat him because of his different from usual behavior. The girl helped her and they became friends.

There was nothing, no sign of any animal, not even a mouse. Shaking my head, I was about to turn around when my eyes fell on something near the next bush. I slowly walked towards it and touched the print on the muddy ground. It was a paw print but it was not a normal print of an animal. It was large, larger than my hand.

Alpha guardians relaxed their muscles across the sands while swimming through the waves. Young pups scrambled blindly through the loose terrain, their throats unleashing sudden, pathetic wails whenever the incoming tide violently eroded their freshly constructed dirt dens. Tracking those young pups systematically wiping away their wet tears to immediately launch another excavation phase, your fangs couldn't prevent a rare smile from cutting through your mask.
