Between Hate and Fate
The heat in my cheeks spreads down my neck as his words settle in, and I glare at him, refusing to give him the satisfaction of looking away.
“You’re impossible,” I mutter, though my voice comes out weaker than I intended.
Ruslan chuckles, his voice dark and rich, and the sound sends a shiver down my spine. “Oh, I’m more than impossible, solnyshka,” he murmurs, the Russian word slipping out like silk. “I’m relentless.”
I swallow hard, the air between us thick with tension. My heart pounds as his hand comes to rest on the table, his fingers so close to mine I can feel the warmth radiating off his skin.
