The air in the Lunar Combat Arena was thick with tension. I stood at the edge of the crowd, my fingers clutching the vial of wolfsbane hidden in my pocket. The scent of sweat and anticipation from the other students—alphas, all of them—pressed against me, a reminder of how out of place I was. Dominion Academy wasn’t built for someone like me. An omega. A liar. Yet here I was, disguised as Val Rhen, a supposed alpha heir of a nonexistent pack, surrounded by wolves who could tear me apart if they knew the truth.

I nodded in agreement. “But he usually visited during the holidays until his Father passed away. He had to take over as Alpha and we discovered we were fated mates.
