as he likes to call them as a wife is not allowed” “that’s absurd….what if you’re in love with her? I ask “I don’t fall in love miss evans” he answers his tone sharp I nod “so I marry you for one year…and in exchange you’ll help pay for my sisters treatment? “yes” he nods “okay I take a deep breath “what is expected of me if i’m to marry you” I ask wanting to know what i’m getting myself into “you’ll live with me in my house for the duration of the marriage…we’ll try to show up as a loving couple to the public…you’ll meet my family, the rest of the stipulations will be stated in a contract you’ll sign before the day of the wedding” he explains

Only upon hearing that reassurance did her mother's tension visibly ease on the other end. While the timeline was shockingly compressed, the existence of mutual affection made the pill infinitely easier to swallow. So she said, "Have you folks talked about your marriage arrangements yet?" "Don’t worry, Mom. Adrián will take care of everything. We don’t need to stress over any of it," Elena replied. "Oh, really? But we can’t just sit back and do nothing," her mother said hesitantly.

Before Mom married my father, she was supposed to marry into a wealthy family whose head was grandfather’s business partner, a marriage deal that would have created a huge opportunity for his business but Mom had refused to marry him and gone ahead to marry my Dad, for doing that, she lost everything, all her inheritance. And now, I was seated in her place, to carry out a contract marriage in exchange for her medical bills getting cleared. That was the only reason I was doing this, for Mom. I would never be able to survive losing her too, not after we lost Dad so that was one of the main reasons I needed her to stay alive and the only person that could help make that possible was grandfather

I go over to him and hold his hand, then I touch his face, “I want you Sir, I really do but I hate the fact that you belong to someone else. You get to go back home to your wife and family while I am here longing for you. I can’t bear the thought of you being with another woman” I murmured. “I swear to you that she means nothing to me, it was just a contract marriage that was prepared between our families, she doesn’t mean anything to me” he breathes out those lies. I almost chocked on my words with how easily he let that slip out of his mouth. A contract marriage! A contract marriage is only possible between two people who barely know each other and something to offer to each other’s benefi

I replied. "What did the trash do?" I heard my mum ask and I knew she was referring to Alexander. "Mum, he tricked me into signing a marriage contract. We are married again," I said staring at my mum's face with tears in my ears. It was one thing I remembered and I knew I could share without raising the pregnancy issue. "He did what?" I heard my mum ask sounding furious. "He gave me a contract to sign. I failed to read the details and signed it only to realise it was a marriage contract," I said rolling with that.

Penelope added and made a gesture of zipping her lips. "Thank you." "So Mr. Cartwright is really going to marry you?" "Yes. It's just a marriage of convenience, because of the baby. We could get a divorce someday." "And you're okay with it?" Penelope asked. "I don't have a choice, Penny. I was going to get rid of it, but Maverick Cartwright discovered the truth and convinced me to keep it. Christian decided to marry me. I didn't force him. I would have been okay with co-parenting."

"I just want to stay by your side until the child is born, and then I'll walk away from your life. Basically, I just need about 10 months." The room fell silent. "And you think my grandmother would let you walk away?" Kyle's voice was laced with skepticism. "She won't be able to do anything if we enter a contract marriage," I replied. Kyle's eyes widened. "Contract marriage?" he repeated. "Yes," I explained. "To her, we'll really get married, but between us, it'll just be a contract. We'll sign an agreement stating the terms, including the duration – 10 months – and when the contract ends, I'll leave you alone."

"This is a one-year contract for marriage between you and Mr. Declan Rowe. During the contractual period, you'll be recognised as his wife. You, as well as your child, will be required to cohabit with him for the duration of the contract. You will be required to attend formal events together and show up as a couple in love. We will ensure to protect your public image, ensuring that neither you nor your child is fully revealed to the public or made to face any form of criticism during or after the contract. Your only duty is to partner with Mr. Declan, presenting him as the perfect husband and loving father. In return, you'll receive a monthly allowance, and upon the lapse of the contract, yo

But he had not told us what would replace them. As the three pieces touched, the room seemed to tilt. And suddenly, I saw it all—not as we had lived it, but as it truly was. The contract had been signed not because we were chosen, but because our parents had traded us. The marriage had been arranged not to protect us, but to bind us. Every moment of kindness, every moment of connection, every moment of love—had been guided. Shaped. Planned. And Theron—my equal, my partner, my choice—had known.
