It seemed I would be the only one paying my respects at this mid-autumn festival. I had not even reached the door when a harsh crash echoed through the air. My chest tightened. I ran inside and saw several workers swinging sledgehammers at the walls. “Stop!” I shouted and stormed in. The house was a wreck. Furniture was smashed to splinters. Lance stood amidst the ruins, seizing my mother's ancestral tablet and smashing it to the ground. Crack! The tablet shattered into pieces. He was not satisfied. He stomped on my mother’s black-and-white portrait, grinding it into the floor.

The girl took out a brown-bound book and started reading the notes inside. Ana continued to go deeper and deeper. At the moment she hadn't found anything. There was not a single animal roaming around and nothing strange. Ana continued walking about five hundred meters from the entrance gate, Ana found a tree like the one described in the book. Ana stared at the tree and then read the note in the book. 'Two trees with carvings of five crescents that seem to reflect light.' Ana held the carved symbol of one of the trees. "There is no mistake, this must be the tree in book." Ana looked around, there was nothing special around there.

More we cannot reach. Seek them, for they seek to unmake us. Follow them into Faerie…’ The portal twisted through her mortal body. ‘Do not be fooled, there is betrayal here. Find it!’

Kendra asked weakly. “You forgot me? I am the one who touched you. Who am I now?” The man leaned, whispered to Kendra. Kendra wanted to say something, but she was too weak to utter any words. She suddenly closed her eyes and passed out. Few people would come to the suburb because it was too remote, but no one knew there was a castle hidden in the forest. It looked so spectacular and mysterious.

Just then I heard a telepathic voice in my head, as a tiny print on my forearm lit up. “The Ethereal Hall is founded by the founders of the Gifted academies. It is a mental folded space, just like your experience in the Ancient Reality continent. It is the best place to lay your martial foundation. This place is fashioned as a replica of the Acorn Forest. Devour this opportunity to the core, Young Mistress.” My eyes lit up in shock. ‘Mystical Beast of Illusions!’ Just hearing its voice was like heaping off a heavy burden from my shoulders. Its timing was just perfect. Just the right time to show up!

He has been waiting for my return since he became surprisingly attached to me. “Where are we?” Heron asked, and vetted the unfamiliar realm. Soaking in the novelty of it. “This is Dusky Dew Meadows,” I muttered and bit my lip. He might order me to return him to the pack if he did not like being here with me. Here, the colors were brighter and sharper. Everything in the human realm existed here as well. The fairy houses were red and white toadstools, made of jasper, while the colossal rose-quartz castle with eight tall towers of the Fairy Queen Katinka resided to the west.

Everyone did what felt right. Hell yeah, I thought, twirling my way back to Enzo, the faerie ball had been the best idea ever. Totally random, totally obscure, but fun as fuck. And, hopefully, a marker of the things to come once I became Moose Creek’s Luna. Even if I couldn’t shift into a wolf, I could throw a damn good party. The fairy lights twinkled, golden stars dotting the backdrop of peach-pink clouds and craggy bottle-green pines and, further back still, the greying silhouettes of the mountains beyond. Everywhere I looked was a scene from a fairytale, filled with horned, whiskered creatures, seelie and unseelie fae, and alcohol. Lots and lots of alcohol.
