Anne-Marie appears to have noticed something intriguing because she gasps, "My dear, what a coincidence!" Her exclamation makes both Laurel and me look up. She stretches her neck to get a better view of the book's cover, her mouth slightly agape. "Abrego..." Laurel tenses, and I pay close attention. She shakes her head, denying, "I just recalled the name of that girl who was caught in the fight club. Kavya Feuer-Abrego. It's the same last part of the last name as the two authors. I thought perhaps they were married, which is why their names were so long."

Hazel enjoys getting to know all of them, and she feels like she's making a difference in their lives, one book at a time. Hazel's favorite part of her job is hosting the weekly book club. It's a small group of about eight people, but they're passionate about reading and always have fascinating insights to share. One of the members, a woman named Margaret, is especially enthusiastic. She always brings snacks for the group and keeps everyone engaged in lively discussion. One day, Margaret comes in with a big smile on her face. "You'll never believe what happened!" she says. "I was at the grocery store, and I ran into a famous author!

Beneath were flawless downward-turned lips she knew Sean satisfyingly feasted on now and then. A grim stare in her direction had Gianna turning her face in embarrassment. He caught her staring. Should she call it a miracle that Sean hadn't looked her way all day or gotten two meters close to her? Was it due to the effect of the slap or simply a bite of guilt? Whatever it was, she hoped it lasted a while longer. "We have a book club going on, I believe you must have heard about it." Gianna began. "The book donation thingy?" "Yeah, we campaign for you to join us. If you're interested that is," she offered. "New ideas for improvements are welcome at any time." She added, for effect.

“It’s pretty wild. You’re in for an interesting night.” Luna grabs another copy of the book from a nearby stack and hands it to me. “Here you go. This one’s a fresh copy, we have plenty. You’ll see why in a minute.” I take the book, glancing between them. “You’ve actually got extras? What kind of book club is this?” Lilly grins mischievously. “One that takes its material seriously. We didn’t just pick this one by chance. We’ve been swapping theories about it for weeks now. Everyone’s dying to hear your take.”

Jane and Anabelle also went to the “No Men Club.” The club was built for only the richest girls in the country. Jane and Anabelle had a plan similar to Jade's and Kingsley, but with a slight difference. As they entered the club, Anabelle reminded Jane about what they were supposed to do. “So here is the plan again. We go in, and we pretend to fight with each other over what my brother, I mean Eric, did to your brother Jake in the past. You see that girl over there…?”

Grey muttered. He was ignored. "And I am the moderator of this wonderful bookclub. I hope we have a blast as we come together to experience the beauty of reading. We'll start with introductions. Let's start with you, young man." He gestured to Brandon and sat on an empty seat next to the cookies. Brandon smirked. "My name is Brandon Cecil Knight." "Middle name fucking rhymes with sissy. Fucking perfect." "No interruptions please, hold any opinions till after we've all said our names."

Otherwise, she would not have brought her two sidekicks along with her. "Of course there are. Haven't you seen the news about the Adonis Clubhouse in Siaross? Do you really think that clubs like that would disappear just because one of them had been exposed? The fact is, there are plenty of others around. Ridgeview is so close to Siaross, and there are obviously a ton of private clubs around here." Naomi seemed to know a lot, but in fact, she was only pretending in front of her friends. James kept quiet. He raised his hands and wiped the tears in his eyes. "Goodbye, Ibekwe," he said.

“Yeah, even the idea freaks me out.” Aiden nodded. “Glad we’re on the same page.” Nova crossed her arms but smiled at Eli. “Well, we’re on the same page too.” “Exactly,” Eli said softly. “It’ll be fine as long as you guys are with us.” That almost cracked me. Almost. “Still a no,” Aiden said firmly. “Let’s keep clubbing aside until college,” I added. “Suggest something less… clubby.” I raised a brow. “Maybe a book club?”
