The floor-to-ceiling glass windows framed a panoramic, sun-drenched view of Michigan Avenue and the Chicago skyline.
Our new high-rise apartment was everything Tasha and I had dreamed about back in our cramped dorm room. It was spacious, bright, and modern, featuring two sleek master bedrooms, a shared marble bathroom that looked straight out of a luxury hotel, and an open-concept kitchen and living area with polished hardwood floors.
By eight in the evening, the heavy moving boxes were stacked neatly away, the furniture was assembled, and the balcony lights flickered against the twilight sky.
