POV: Isabella The safe house was a cramped, two-bedroom apartment in Queens that smelled of stale coffee and industrial cleaner. It was a world away from the marble floors of the Vane estate or the glass-walled precision of Sterling Tower. There was no concierge, no security detail, and no cooling system humming in the walls. There was only the sound of the elevated train rattling the windowpanes every ten minutes and the low, frantic tapping of Marcus’s fingers on a laptop in the kitchen.

"Then your father's debts will be settled in blood instead of marriage. I believe he owes roughly four liters. Would you like to start with his heart or his head?" I bit my lip, turning to look out the window. We were leaving the city center, heading toward the cliffs where the "Old Money" and the "Old Magic" lived. We eventually pulled up to Vane House. It was a fortress of black stone and ivy, perched on a jagged cliff overlooking the crashing waves of the Atlantic. It looked less like a home and more like a tomb. "Welcome to your new cage," Dante said as the door was opened by a silent, pale-faced butler.

I get up from her bed and we walk out the door into the car; Her mom drops us off after about a 15-minute drive. We stand outside the house in the driveway remembering everything from earlier. We hesitantly start walking to the front door. There are no cars in the driveway yet, so we take our time going inside. "Shit, we forgot to put the board away" I facepalm myself in disappointment. We both look at each other and take a deep breath as we walk into the house. You can feel the drastic change from the outside to the inside, the air feels heavier almost as if something is stuck in your throat. I can feel the hairs on the back of my neck standing and you can see the goosebumps on my arm.

The new house was everything I hadn’t realized I wanted. Bigger, better, cleaner, and… quieter than the chaos of the old mansion. Damon had insisted on a few guards only, probably still worried about the last incident with the bomb in the former house. And there was a chef now. A real chef. Which meant Damon wouldn’t be in the kitchen anymore, cooking for me.

We wind along narrow, overgrown streets, past gorgeous houses, until the driver pulls along a bendy driveway that ends with an enormous house perched on the edge of a steep bluff. Scar takes my hand. "Ready?" he asks. "Ready," I say. "It'll be fun." And I almost mean it. I love the beach, and I brought a few bikinis I think Scar's going to lose his shit over. The house is incredible. It looks like an Old Money New England mansion with a slate roof, white walls, manicured lawn, and lots of columns holding up the various roof peaks. Dozens of windows peer out at the incredible landscape.

The housekeeper became my stepmother, and together with her son, they plotted to kill me. After being reborn, I exposed a video of her affair at her own wedding, destroying her reputation completely. I watched as she and her son were kicked out. They left with nothing, wandering the streets like outcasts. I smiled and tossed a moldy piece of bread into their begging bowl. “This is all you deserve.” …… When I opened my eyes, I found myself back to a week before my dad’s wedding to our housekeeper, Megan Zimmerman.

Chapter 23 Victoria's POV We pulled up to the address Jaxon had given me, and my stomach twisted at the sight before me. The house stood in stark contrast to the life I was used to—its peeling paint, overgrown weeds, and the general air of neglect made it look like a relic from a different era. This wasn’t just an ordinary house; it was a symbol of everything I was trying to escape, a reminder of the kind of life I had no interest in leading. Jaxon parked the car, and we sat in silence, waiting for Alex to emerge.

Was this the resident of the Supreme and my new home? This grand estate looked like something out of Jane Austin or Bronte novel with is gothic revival architecture and I could only image how it would feature extravagant grounds, spacious halls, and luxurious rooms. But as it was late at night I could only see and admire what was lit up by the lanterns, and their light only made the building look even more impressive. We parked in front of the pack house, but Iza had kept her word, because as soon as we left the car, I was enrolled in their training regime starting right away.

The House in Hampton Hills where the Hunts live was one of the villas situated on the main road leading to the chateau far ahead. However, even if it was on the main street, it was not noisy as the houses were mostly soundproofed. Also, Hampton Hills itself was a gated luxury subdivision that only cars registered by homeowners were allowed to enter. Guests could only come in after confirming with the house owners. To say that the security was very strict was not an exaggeration.
