Now that the book has ended, I know some of you have questions, so here we go. WILL I WRITE FREYA’S STORY? Yes, but not right now. Why? Unfortunately, my income from Goodnovel has declined since last year. That would have been manageable, except I’ve enrolled my boys in several therapies to support their development on the spectrum. The progress they’re making is incredible, and I know I can’t discontinue their treatments. So, I need to start putting my eggs in different baskets. What does that mean? I need to write a non-exclusive book and publish it on other platforms.

Miss Dana replied with equal excitement and hung up. I stood from my seat and jumped up and down like a child. I was super excited to be writing for one of the most renowned publishing companies in Nigeria. My novel wasn't only read in New York but extended to Nigeria as well. Ever since I came back home two months ago, I had been getting offers from writing firms and even Agro-allied industries as a food processor and project manager. I had chosen to take the food processing job as my day job and the writing work as a side job since I only wrote from home. It was better that way but I was tired and in need of a break.

I like knowing what to do next or else I would end up a wreck of nerves! I open the door of my small apartment. The door creaks and loneliness echoes through the entire building. "Home sweet home," I mutter to myself. I put away my newly bought novel on the bedside table. Yeah: that was the plan I was talking about. I have a book I am editing on my laptop. I work for a publishing company and I am lucky to be paid to work from home. This comes with many advantages including reading free novels. I love my job.

In the yard, I planted all sorts of flowers and plants. The renovated home was as beautiful as I had imagined. On a sunny day, I moved into my new home and held a small opening ceremony for the bookstore. As I had imagined, the bookstore did not do very well. Occasionally, kids from the neighborhood would come in to read, but most of the time, it was deserted. That was fine. It was quiet, and I could sit behind the counter and concentrate on writing my novel. I had a passion for writing since college and occasionally had short stories published in magazines. I had also written a web novel before. It was well received, gaining me some readers and earning me a considerable sum of money.

I might shift to some other platform after writing a couple of books. Perhaps I could go back to W*****d, I do miss writing for free and just enjoying the people reading. It was fun rather than having to crank out a certain word limit. Naomi's P.O.V Settling down wasn't as easy as I expected. I enrolled Dean in one of the best schools and I picked a room in my house to be my office. Yes, I worked from home. I was a writer and freelancer. My gift for writing had always been with me since when I was little but I couldn't utilise it. That didn't stop me from reading a lot and jotting down on paper. When I was with my ex-husband, I was not expected to go out or do anything. My only duty was to warm his bed whenever he pleases. I was mostly bored doing nothing. The maids took care of cleaning the house and also preparing food.

They nod and then walked towards their bedroom. As soon as they close the door, I went to my small desk and hardly got on the chair. I took a deep breath and faced my laptop. Mom taught me how to use it and gladly I am a fast learner s it was not really a problem at all for me. She is a little older than me and I was asking her how to earn more and she told me that there is this platform for writing that pays well.

The next few days are awful. I stay up all night painting. I set an alarm on my phone to make sure I shower and grab something to eat before Ashton wakes up for work, then retreat to my room to work on some freelance graphic design jobs I picked up. Apparently, writing on those novel websites has blown up during COVID, and people need covers. I usually work until about 1:30—just after Ashton’s lunch break, when I know he’s in a Zoom meeting—so I can sneak into the kitchen without having to talk to him. After that, I take a walk around the block, get some fresh air, and then go to bed. I wake up around midnight and do it all over again.
