Money Can't Buy Love
Tanner ran up to us, brandishing his bucket of rocks and shells in front of him.
“Look at this one, Mom!” he said, digging into the pail and bringing out a pale purple shell.
“That’s beautiful,” Rainey said, kneeling down beside him.
“Look, Michael!” Tanner said, holding it up to me. “Do you think it’s pretty?”
“Very much so,” I said, taking the shell from his hand and holding it up above my head. The shell was almost iridescent.
“I want to show you one that I found,” Tanner said, taking the shell back from me. Then he took my hand and pulled me to the side. I had a feeling I knew what he wanted to “show” me.
