Zane walked out, leaving me alone, I exhaled shakily, my fingers gripping the counter as I tried to anchor myself, the weight of his words and the pull of my own desires blurring what I was fighting for. By the time I returned to my room—Kael’s temporary guest room, technically, not mine—I wasn’t surprised to find someone waiting and I paused in the doorway, my hand resting on the frame. Not Kael, Zane, or Rowan, but someone unfamiliar, my wolf snapping awake as I stepped inside. Killian’s letter had mentioned it, and now hearing it from Selena made it feel even more ominous. “She’s not just a name,” Selena continued. “Nyxia is... was a rival to the Moon Goddess. A being of chaos and shadow. She believed that bonds and hierarchies—like the mating system—were chains meant to be broken.”

I asked. Though I had asked the question in general, it was Nyx’s answer I wanted to hear. I wanted to know if she had come on her own to see me or it was just because she was ordered to do so. Nyx didn’t look like a mother who would have missed her child and wanted to see me just like that. On the other hand, she was too powerful to listen to anyone’s orders. From what I have heard, Nyx was a primordial deity who existed before the times of Olympians and Titans. Even Zeus feared her, and she was the only God Zeus was ever afraid of. So, I didn’t understand why she would come here.

She answers me and smiles gently at me. “Thank you moon-goddess, you once again show that you care about us. You said you have a message for Logan?” I remind her. “Oh yes, I do. As you know I am the goddess of the moon and you wolves and lycans are my children.” She says, and I nod my head to show her that I am listening. “Do you know anything about Nyx and her lover Erebus?” The moon goddess asked me. And I do know who they are.

Far below, the world bustled, unaware that every move was already mapped in her mind. The wolf materialized beside her, white and vast, its fur shimmering with the light of a thousand forgotten moons. Timeless, unbreakable, its gaze met hers. They see you now, it said, voice ancient and wild. Nyxara drew a slow, deliberate breath, her violet eyes burning like twin amethysts against the night. “Good,” she answered. “Let’s see who’s bold—or stupid—enough to challenge me next.” Her empire was awake—every facet, every shadow, every secret.
