One Call Away Lyrics Novels & Stories

My phone buzzed at 2am It was a number I didn’t save But I knew who it was Only one person calls this late Nico I stared at the screen for three rings My heart was beating too fast Dad was not home He was on a case again That meant the house was empty Just me I finally swiped answer Aria he said His voice was low Rough Like he hadn’t slept Are you home alone he asked Yes I whispered Why Dont answer the door he said

I say, my voice tighter than I intended. “Maerilee, we understand how difficult this must be for you,” my mother says, her eyes pleading. “But the barrier is weakening every day, and we don’t have much time. If you find your One, if you can unlock the power that comes with it, you can help restore it.”

" the number?: she asks, the phone in her hand. " 212-667-3511" I can't believe I still remember his number.. Please pick up!!! The woman gives me the phone and holds five fingers up , to tell me I have five minutes. As I put the phone to my ear I stay silent, my heart beats erratic. " Hello?" his voice sounds annoyed, but still my heart starts to beat fast at the sound of his voice and I start to cry. " I..I'm sorry.. I didn't know who else to- to call. C-can.." I start, but brust out in tears and sobs. Why did I call him? He doesn't care, he won't help me!!

I knew right there and then who was calling. Let me down, down Let me down, down Let me down, let me down Down, let me down, down Let me down If you wanna go then I’ll be so lonely If you’re leaving baby let me down slowly If you wanna go then I’ll be so lonely If you’re leaving baby, let me down slowly I headed to the kitchen to check with a bored expression on my face. I picked up my phone and saw that it was my mom who was calling. “Hey mum, what do you want,” I ask.

I roll my eyes and slap her hands off my cheeks, "You're just as rude as your mate!" "Well, you're wrong. I'm more nice than him! He's a playboy," "Well, you aren't a lover girl either. You've got multiple guys ca-"I get interrupted by Charlie Puth's One Call Away which happens to be her ringtone. See what I was talking about? "-calling you, " I complete my statement as she takes her phone. Reading the screen, she rolls her eyes up at me, "It's Sage." Wha-

“Sex with me, so amazing All this all work, no vacation Stay up off my I*******m wit-” My phone blared loudly from its spot on my bed. Depressed thoughts now scattered from the unexpected call, I quickly searched for my singing phone, knowing exactly who was behind the call. Quickly finding it underneath my scattered papers, the pad of my pointer finger gently pressed on the vibrating green icon to accept the call.

Mom : William is telling me to text you to come home. : Is there something going on, Cai? : Cailen, what's going on? : Please answer me baby, I'm starting to worry. Dad : What's going on, son? : I need you to come home or at least call me, please. Without giving himself time to think on it, he called his voice mail. ‘You have two new messages’, he heard his phone tell him. Beep.

It takes my attention away from my ranting mind. Before I know it the day's over and I make my way onto the busy roads of the peak hours in Johannesburg. "Oh, you don't know what sadness means," Alessia Cara sings, I always feel like she talks to my soul. "'Til you're too sad to fall asleep," I look outside my window after stopping at a red light. A lady looking too unwell to be standing on the side of the road asks for change and I hand her a few coins. "One day, I'll be snoozin' peacefully," I decide I'm going to have McDonald's for dinner as I turn onto the road leading there.

she asks, her tone neutral. I choose softness—the kind that hurts. “Yes. Just one call… to close a chapter.” She nods, but I see the doubt in her eyes. The curiosity. That is all I need. The call office is a cube of concrete. A glass booth. A rotary phone that seems to belong to another century. I sit. Delmas dials the number for me—slowly, almost reverently. The receiver spits out a distant line. Footsteps. Murmurs. Then a voice.

“It’s One”, Amelia heard from the other end of the phone call and for a minute, she thought that she just heard wrongly. She looked at the strange number on the screen and took in a calm breath to relax her raging heart. “Hello! How can I help you”, Amelia answered bluntly, not wanting to give her a hint of how tensed she was beginning to feel at the moment. The line was silent for a couple of minutes, after which One suddenly started laughing hysterically.
