Memories of his father must have flooded his mind at the sight of his most precious asset. Nodding at Ragnor, Xee opened the book and flipped through the pale pages. He moved to the second part of the book which contained information about witch's spells. Ragnor helped Xee to sift through hundreds of spells and they stopped at the portion where body-related spells were scribbled. My heart picked a beat as I read the headings such as mind-crippling spell, numbing spell, maddening spell, and so on. A cold shiver ran down my spine as I kept reading.

I could still remember that day like it had happened just yesterday. My hands tightened on the staring wheel as I inhaled and exhaled, preparing for what I was about to do. "Gùfùh uzò.." I whispered slowly as I concentrated on the land before me. Those spells were as simple as abc and they had been the first spells my mother had thought to me as a child. Opening spells. The hairs at the back of my neck stood as I felt it, the slight brush of the spells that surrounded Lakewood. Spells that were meant to identify who belonged in there, and who was not welcomed.

I looked at her with hope. "I am not fluent in every language, but I have some familiarity with runes and Ogham. I need my reference book, but from what I can see, these are spells." She looked at me, surprised. "What kind of spells?" I tried not to let my hopes run ahead of me, but it was impossible. My heart was pounding with the knowledge that Ben could have his cure within days if that book held what I thought it did. "I cannot say yet. I need to sit down and work through it properly. We have to find our way back to Shelton." She stood and brushed off her pants, carrying the book with her. "We need to get out of here." I did the same and got to my feet.

“Okay, Penny, you’re with me, Reagan, you’re with Meadow.” “What do I have to do?” Penny asks. “Just hold this for me,” I tell her, handing her the potion for the spell. Meadow and I stand beside each other and begin chanting the spell. We dip our hand into our pot of potion and watch as the potion absorbs into the spell and disappears. “Whoa, that’s really cool. But what does it do?” Reagan asks. “It sends up an alarm when someone with an evil intent to the pack comes through. It won’t harm them and it won’t stop them, but it will give us warning,” Meadow tells her.

I was so buried in the search when Andrian called out to me. “My Alpha, I think I found it.” Hearing that made my heart thump a bit. I swiftly ran to where he was. A small book, which shouldn’t be more than two hundred pages, was in his hand. I collected the book from him. The covering was a deep crimson hue, reminiscent of a blood moon casting its eerie glow. And on the hardcover were swirling shadows hinting at hidden magic, and the book of spells was boldly written on it. A small smile found its way to my face. I wasn’t happy because Tristan can also use the spell, but I was happy because I could get to know more about the spells I'm using, which I'm sure would be in this book.

Trisha heard Mrs Perry complain as she glided through shelves teemed with ages-old books before she could be pulled into hours-long conversation with the old lady. She picked up a book from a dilapidated shelf, blew off the dust that had found solace on it's leather covering over the years, and squinted— because of the poor illumination, to see the books name. ‘Wizards Can Do More’ by one of the greatest wizards ever, LP Travis. It was a book she wanted but not one she needed. Hence, she put it back in its spot among other dusty books and walked to another shelf.

I ask achingly “After the three days banquet with the king. I lifted my head slowly, my whole body trembling against him, “What… what did you just do to me?” My breathing finally slowed, the sting leaving like it had never existed. Clifford’s hands eased off me, but his eyes didn’t. “It’s like a spell,” he said finally, his voice low. “To stop whatever seems to be growing on you. It should hold for now.” My whole body went cold. A spell? My lips parted but no sound came out. A spell! When did Clifford learn how to do spells? He was a fighter, a scholar, a man of steel and command—since when did he touch things like this?

Is all he said to me, before he turned to walk back towards the house, but stopped, and turned his head slightly, before he says, “Oh, and Selena found the reversal spell in the book. I guess your hunch was right.” At that moment Joffrey and I turned to look at each other, as we realized that our little moment alone together was over, and that we needed to head back to the house, to finish this war against the heir, now that we had the spell to take away the power of the telus.
