ASHTON We find ourselves in the vast expanse of rural Kansas, far from any bustling city. It's late at night, and Lennox, my companion, refuses to join me in bed. He's engrossed in his work, sifting through another set of legal documents that have been sent to him. Sleep eludes him as he tirelessly searches through the files. I remind myself that this state of affairs won't last forever.

“Oh, I need shoes to match the clothing being made, but I don’t know what those will look like yet.” I look to Onyx for assistance. “Are you having May and Bob design your clothing?” Skeeter asks as he scribbles notes. “Yes,” Onyx replies for me. “I can meet with them and coordinate the shoes based on their design. If permitted, I will throw in a few pairs of flats and sneakers that will match anything?” “I think that would be great. Thank you, Skeeter. It was very nice to meet you.” I state. “Thanks, Skeeter. We will see you soon.” Onyx shakes his hand and grips it tighter than he should. “You are welcome.” Skeeter stutters out in pain.

Kiran's assessing gaze swept over them, noting several members who possessed decent basics. He drew up a detailed training plan and listed out the required facilities and equipment for Onyx. Before leaving, he also healed those who had yet to recover from the injuries he previously inflicted on them. Onyx and his gang closed Neptune's Cove Karaoke and hurried over to Xander Corporation. Meanwhile, Kiran notified Xander Corporation's security regarding the involvement and assistance of Onyx's gang. He was determined to not only make money from now on, but also to cultivate his forces and truly develop the York family.

Chris spun around as if he were looking for something or someone. “You can come out now,” he shouted, “I’m sure you all got a great fucking laugh from trying to fool the famously gullible Christopher Red.” James blew out a heavy breath before the sound of snapping and rearranging bones echoed through the dense forest. Where a man once stood was replaced by the magnificent beast that is Onyx. His deep, almost black fur shined under the rays of sunlight, showing off their lighter brown tips.

I sense a laid back demeanor about him. Kane continues, “Onyx is your Merman.” I see a lean guy about 6’5 with long brown hair and eyes the color of ocean water. And his irises move like water. It's the coolest thing to look at! His skin has weird scale-like tattoos covering most of his tanned body. He grins and holds out his hand for me to shake. And I grin and shake his hand. His joy seems infectious. “Great to meet you!” He beams. “You as well!”

Stan says as he eyes me and I nod. "The Schaff Angus Valley sale... Should be other shifters there...," Stan says in a prodding kind of way and I sit back in my chair. I cross my arms and meet his blue gaze head-on. "Oklahoma Stockyards are pretty big. I doubt I will focus on the others there," I counter and he grins. "So you aren't looking to leave us," he asks, getting to his point, and I growl a little. "No. I plan on finding us our next money maker and coming back home to milk him dry," I reply and he chuckles.

Still nothing. Onyx growled. “It’s odorless.” A frown crept up on my face. “You sure?” “Positive,” he said with certainty. That wasn’t helping. Onyx could identify hundreds of scents. Poisons. Plants. Blood. Illness. Most things left traces. Whatever had been mixed into these drinks apparently didn’t. “There’s no smell,” Onyx muttered. “Wonderful.” My sarcasm wasn’t appreciated. I set the glass back onto the table and looked toward Kael. “Have the contents examined.”

Instead of them, he has me. "We want pups. Kane and I dream of when you'll be ready. Don't get me wrong, mate; we enjoy having you under our body- moaning and begging for more, but there's more than that," though Onyx sounds oddly gentle, his words surprise me. Is having a kid so important to rush things?

They all back away while going to their knees and bear their necks. “I am so sorry for using my command, it is something I wish not to use, but Onyx is very tiny and needs time to develop a better immune system. I will allow you all to see him from a distance. Please allow me room to get him from the car. Then join me in the backyard for the viewing ceremony.” I knew everyone would want to meet Onyx, but I needed to do this on my terms not the packs. I had arranged a ceremony where I would have a camera facing the platform and it would be projected on multiple screens for the pack to see.

While I was going through my mental breakdown, she continued to stare at me until I couldn’t take it anymore. “What is it, Karyna?” I asked finally, breaking the ice. “I managed to hear a little bit from your conversation, despite how rude it is to eavesdrop,” she started slowly, and I could hear the panic bells ring through my ears, but I continued to stay nonchalant. “From what I eavesdropped, I learned that Onyx is in danger,” I nearly let out a sigh of relief. Oh, she didn't hear anything about the werewolves. Great.
