Lysandra looked toward Orion with tears in her eyes. "You never told me." Orion smiled sadly. "You would have tried to help." "And you would have died." Silence settled once again. The Legacy whispered, "He accepted eternity..." "...so humanity could keep its name." Elyra understood. Everyone had misunderstood Orion. History remembered him as the first monster. But he had willingly become the jailer. Not for power. For sacrifice. Caelan clapped slowly. "Beautiful story." His smile widened. "But every prison eventually breaks."

"Your mother promised you to me before you were even born." Orion limped forward. "That's not true. Mother would never—" "Never what? Sacrifice one child for another? But she did." I turned my gaze to him. "Who do you think suggested putting Amara away? Who put fears into your father's ear night after night?" I could see the memories clicking into place behind Orion's eyes. Good. Seeds of doubt were often more strong than any spell. "You don't understand what mate bonds truly are," I continued, my voice stronger now as I fed off their confusion. "They weren't created by the Moon Goddess, as your legends say. They were made by me."

He was trying to stay calm, to keep his Alpha composure, but I could feel the unease rolling off him in waves. Legends of wolves born under a rare celestial event, wolves who carry something more than just the strength of the pack.” Zara scoffed. “You mean like some kind of blessing?” Orion’s gaze darkened. “Or a curse.”

All we heard was her screams as her and her wolf's emotions returned with full force. She screamed and cried.

She was fascinated by the way that different cultures had woven tales of love into the night sky. "According to Greek mythology, Orion was a great hunter who boasted that he could kill any animal on earth. This angered the goddess Gaia, who sent a giant scorpion to kill him."

Although the Order of the Orion had all these stories written in one book, nothing was said about their vampire children living on earth with different ideals. They were all the same; they created, drank their blood to be like them, and enslaved the ones they turned. There was no story about those kinds whom the gods blessed and were given a chance to live among people.
