Our Overtime Novels & Stories

He grabbed our trays and went to the counter. I returned to my phone, pressed the “Answer” button and lowered the volume. With a low voice, I spoke, “Yes, Mama?” “Mingyu! Another overtime?! Are you trying to make me lose my job?!” Mama screamed at the top of her lungs as soon as she spoke. I moved my phone away as she continued her rant, “We agreed that you would look for a better job so you won’t have to do any more overtime at work. But why are you still doing it again?! You’re not the only one who has a job here!”

The thought of Dawn leaning over her office desktop, working her ass for an extra three and a half hours after closing time, drives me crazy. Why is it getting to me? Why am I even thinking about this? I hate people who think working overtime is efficient. This practice is just another form of being lazy. Why work overtime when you can finish all your work within the stipulated seven hours and go home to your family? Who was behind this? That crazy team lead of the planning team who has tried on several occasions to get too close for comfort? Some people are mean-spirited for the sake of being mean-spirited.

The company has orders above limit that need more time to work, but their employees almost resist their work. But, at this time, he requested that they stay activated for the inspection of the clients. "Boss, you have to refrain from giving them overtime. We do our best, but our deliveries are still not enough to reach the orders. Some workers are sick from overfatigue; some are still sacrificing their own ailments just to work for companies's quotas. Now, do we have to pretend to our clients that we cannot delay them or reach their expectations?" Mr. Davidson, the manager in production, asks.

Busy all day, almost time to leave work, Grainne glanced at the time and then pulled out her phone and sent a voice message: "Honey, no overtime today, don't fall asleep because of waiting." After saying that, she happily packed up her things and prepared to leave. Suddenly, she saw her director swinging his fat belly and came over, and immediately felt depressed. It's not! Again? Grainne was startled, her fingers about to shut down trembled slightly, then pressed the restart button. That fear has not passed, the director has announced the bad news: “Tonight everyone has to work overtime! Let's try to double this month's achievement!" After saying that, he ignored the bored expressions of th

When we got to the office I reminded him that I wanted to go back home, work hours were over. “Did you sign the work contract this morning?” he asked. I nodded and told him I signed it in Andrew’s office before I came to meet. “Then you know, you have to be here past work hours as long as I am here,” he went back to the thick file on his table going through it like it was the proclamation of Independence and he was a founding father who could not believe they won. “Your overtime would be taken care of by the finance department,” he turned a page on the file and continued writing something in a notepad.

Theodore spoke calmly. Nathan was rendered speechless. "Absurd. Young Master Sanchez, don’t tell me you don’t understand labor law? Even if Isabella signed a long-term contract with you, agreeing to work for you her whole life, according to labor law, her working hours should be capped at eight hours a day..." Before Nathan could finish, Theodore brought out an addendum to the contract. It clearly stated that Isabella voluntarily agreed to work overtime, with overtime pay according to the labor law’s double compensation. The document also included Isabella's signature and thumbprint.

I asked him, which made him wonder. "Why?" he asked, furrowing his eyebrows. "I just realized that I'm not that late yet, so I still have time to work," I answered his question after thinking if I still had time, and if I was maybe just 2 hours late, I could just do overtime for those 2 hours so that my salary would remain the same, if ever. "But you're already late," he asked curiously. "It is okay, I can just do overtime for those 2 hours," I answered his question.

Maxwell asked with a frown. "We can’t be sure yet. We’ll find out more once we find the guy." "Keep looking and let me know if you have any news." Maxwell paused and then added, "Working during the New Year counts as overtime work, so your salary is doubled!" "Okay, thank you, Boss…" Carter drawled happily. Maxwell scolded him with a chuckle, hung up the phone, and turned to look out the window just in time to see Sonnet, who was in a tracksuit, running past outside.

Staring at Fiona’s face, which was twisted from anger and jealousy, I chuckled at her absurdity. “Fiona, I’ve been working hard for the company for a month. The increase in electricity bill would not even be able to cover the money I’ve spent on coffee,” I said softly. I thought that my explanation would suffice, but it made her even angrier. “Can’t you work overtime at home? I think you’re just exploiting the company for free electricity! How shameless!” “Work overtime at home?” I frowned. With my family background, I did not even need to work. I just wanted to understand the current market.

Seeing the doubtful comments, Savannah stammered, "C-Compensation? That's just you painting a rosy picture!" "Is it?" I turned to look at the employees who were starting to arrive one after another. "Whenever I asked all of you to work overtime before, have I ever shortchanged you on overtime pay?" Only then did Savannah notice the crowd of employees gathered outside the warehouse. Her face went pale. Still, she quickly recovered and shrieked, "Don't listen to her! She just wants to sacrifice your legal holidays to clean up her mess! "And who knows—maybe she wants you to bury your conscience and help sell those waterlogged parts! If something goes wrong down the line, you'll be the ones taki
