Giovanna grins. The Luna smiles and looks like she’s about to leave the room when she freezes, staring at my mates exposed mark. It turned out beautiful. It’s all black and has kind of a tribal feel. It has imagery depicting a full moon with claw marks on either side circled by a large bite mark that wraps from the front of her shoulder to the back. It’s the most beautiful mark I’ve ever seen, but it’s entirely possible that I’m just biased.

Squall walked the shelf slowly in his man’s shape, crouching, scenting, and at the inner wall, he stopped. Claw marks scored the stone where something had gripped the mountain to launch. Deep, clean, effortless, driven into granite the way children drive fingers into bread. Squall is not a small dragon. Squall in his true shape blots out stars. He laid his own hand inside one gouge, fingers spread to their fullest, and his whole hand sat in the mark’s narrowest corner like a child’s in a giant’s footprint.

Nate’s heart was struggling too much to beat and his color wasn’t returning. Coaxing his canines out with my command, I moved his head to my shoulder. When I felt his teeth touch my skin, I pushed down hard, feeling it break my skin. His body jolted, but I held him tight. The wounds on his arms closed up but left silvery scar lines, showing just how many claw marks were there.

My fingers brushed the hilt, but it was too far. It leaned down, claws pinning my shoulder. The cold spread fast, up my neck, and into my head. And my muscles locked. I gasped once, but my breath was fleeting. The world blurred at it's edges. Its face came close enough that I could see its eyes, black pits with a faint ring of silver light inside. And then I saw it. Carved deep into its arm, half-hidden by ash and blood, a mark burned into the flesh. An Ironclaw crest.

I had been kept from my mate for most of my life; I wasn't about to let anyone stand in my way of seeing her. I scowl at the bared teeth expression coming from the panther in the corner of the room. Long, angry, deep gashes were on its back from my leather whip. Its pupils were dilated, lips lifted in a snarl. It was low to the ground, pressed against the wall with its tail slowly swishing back and forth as it glared at me.

Her neck was bleeding because of the punctures and she screamed at the top of her lungs. I marked her without her will and I knew it would haunt her forever. My mark on her neck was burning before getting balck and permanent. This will remind her that she belongs to me!

I needed to find a way to gain the upper hand, to use my strengths to my advantage. As I circled around Leah, I noticed a weak spot in her defense. She was leaving her left side open, and I knew that I could exploit it. I took a deep breath, focusing all my energy on the fight. With a swift and precise movement, I struck at Leah's exposed side, my claws extended and ready to tear her apart. But Leah was quick, and she managed to dodge most of the blow. Still, I managed to graze her side, and she let out a pained growl as she stumbled back.

My pulse thrummed in my neck, like it recognized what my mind didn’t want to admit. The third was the claw marks. Deep, raking lines etched into the stone beside his den. Shredded blankets. A smashed bowl of water near the far wall. Bits of fur, torn cloth, splintered wood. It looked like something had fought to contain a storm and lost. And him—

'It looks like regualar claw marks. The gang has stepped closer to the windows to also catch a glimpse of what she is talking about, River hits the speaker box button so they can all hear us. "Look see here," She points to the marks. "These marks were done in threes. Have you ever attacked someone with your claws, and it only be done in threes?" She asks me. I shake my head no, to give her an anwser. "Also, look at how neat they are? And they are approximately three inches apart!" She states. We hear Lauren's voice through the intercome system.

Then, with a feral snarl, the panther pounced. His massive body sailed through the air, claws extended, as he aimed for my throat. I ducked at the last moment, his weight slamming into the dirt beside me as I whirled around, snapping my jaws. Our bodies collided in a flurry of teeth and claws, putting on a show of brutality for the cheering crowd. Blow after blow rained down, each more ferocious than the last, until we were both panting and bloodied. But not once did we make killing blows. We were just biding time, waiting for the signal.
