“You did this.” The mage barely flinched. “That’s an interesting accusation.” “We had a deal, mage,” Magnus spat. “You signed a contract to guide us, not to leech off him.” His dagger was out in seconds, the tip aimed at the mage’s throat. “You’re stealing his life force, aren’t you? That’s how your kind stays strong. And now, you’re killing him.” The mage smirked, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “If I was, do you think he’d still be standing?”

His pale face and rapidly trembling frame from the residual aura of a powerful Phenom was proof of that. “Calm yourself,” Pathfinder furrowed his brows and placed his hand on Magma’s shoulder. Immediately Magma felt a warm current flowing through his body and calming his rioting energy. Like a gentle flame it boiled the fear and anxiety from before into nothingness and restored Magma’s calm.

Kael muttered. Gared turned and threw a curse. “I knew he’d come to follow us here.” The old mage waved his arms, controlling the swarm of red objects that looked like petals glowing in red. In an instant, the petals formed into three arcs before they launched towards the trees, slicing the trunks with incredible sharpness and ease. As the area fell into silence, the petals scattered in the air. Kael’s eyes watched them in awe. He had never seen such unique magic. “Where the hell have you been, Stone?” Magus Jade asked in an irritated tone as the petals gathered and circled him. Then they compressed together, forming into a long staff.

“No one has the artifact. That Guardian possesses its own artifact. It wears it around its neck like a trophy.” Legarde puts his hand to his chin. “I know you believe in the old ways Legarde, but there are times that great change will bring balance.” “My answer is the same.” Lord Legarde stands. “The people have even started to blame the mages. They are starting to believe what they hear from the other cities, that somehow it is them that is bringing the evil down upon us. My lead Mage is gone and my other mages who are now overwhelmed with keeping the spirits and creatures in check. That is why I don’t have a mage guard. I don’t have enough mages.”

The parchment burst into flames, not burning but transforming—the ash swirling upward in a spiral of silver smoke. The smoke split into three threads, each one curling toward them, seeping into their skin where the blood had been drawn. Rita gasped as it hit her—a connection, sudden and sure, like a second heartbeat nestled beside her own. Freda’s eyes glowed faintly. "It’s done." Pru exhaled, flexing her fingers. "Woah." Rita pressed a hand to her chest, where the bond hummed. She could feel them—Freda’s steady determination, Pru’s sharp intuition—like threads of light woven into her own magic.

So when my alarm finally sounds, I feel like hell. This was not how I was supposed to feel this morning. It will be draining on my magic the more I stress. Now I feel dirty inside and that will also contaminate my magic. My magic is supposed to be healing and cleansing (Trey has offence and defense to his magic because the guard has taught him how to manipulate his magic that way) and now I don't know how I'm supposed to make it through my mission.

I possessed the sort of magic that lured ogres to sleep when lullabies were sung, and mages to spill their seed when I cried out in pleasure.

His purple beard was long and wrapped with a ribbon, he had a long tail coat on and was clearly from a respectable family. "Of course, that, or an ogre." Spoke a young handsome man, his neon green hair glowing under the sun. Normally, he would've snorted at the thought, but standing in the dragons den made him nervous and stiff. There was a journal under his arm and his fingers itched to touch it. "Either way, it must be someone powerful and frightening. We must be respectable, lest we want to lose our lives" a tall middle-aged man spoke, his pink narrow eyes surveyed the area as the group awaited the mage. His hair was white.
