She scrolled, read again, then again, as if repetition might change the meaning.
She stood, swayed, caught herself on the back of the couch.
“No,” she whispered. The word barely moved her lips. “No, no, no.”
She paced the room, hands tugging at her hair, at her sleeves, at nothing. Her gaze kept snapping to the door, to the windows, to the camera she didn’t know was there. Paranoia bloomed fast and bright, fed by chemicals and fear in equal measure.
“She’s tipping,” Nora said, already moving.
